Hello friends! Today hadn’t a chance to read the forum early and been very busy with this fella who arrived in the mail early this morning and was a really nice lantern and very well taken care in outside but inside of guts was crap, vaporizer was full of dirt and all pips had to be replaced including lead washers.  Did the proper cleaning and some bending to the cleaning needle and vaporizer, cut few pips from an o-ring from NAPA auto parts. I still need to fix some screens in the torch preheater and pick up fuel tube but those will wait until they arrive in the mail.

Added a globe from a Wenzel gas lantern I’ve bought from flea bay last year, a 500 CP Petromax mantle from a member here and some Crown kero.

here are some pictures
enjoy as I did and of course this won’t be my last Petromax style lantern 😉

Big O-ring from Napa auto parts. Cost me $3.25 and I have plenty of pips left to cut 😝

Testing preheating torch without a mantle. I burn the mantle using the preheating cup with some HEET yellow bottle

Pancho,

Well done. And the o-ring pic started to answer the question how the pip gets replaced. Nice blue pre-heat too.

Those need a serious cleaning as req'd , detailing, some perishables and then the fun begins.

Nice lantern Pancho ðŸ‘ That big mantle looks tiny on that thing. I bet it would drive a larger one yet ðŸ˜

Looking good!

Not everyone wants to tackle one of the Euro Kero's but the payoff is bright, as you know. Good fettle.

We're thinking alike, I want a Petromax and a Hipolito, or really any of that pattern. At the right price I will try some of the Asian copies just to see if they're really that bad.

Had an Aida 1350 but sold it because I was brazed at the torch heater bong but was working OK so I've ended with this one. Petro, Aida and Hipolito are good ones to have. I want couple lanterns from down under Austramax and Handi Kero too, this never ends lol

Yep, I want the Aussie lanterns plus a Tilley and a Vapalux. I'm not set on having a bunch of any certain model. I'd like to get 1 or 2 of a lot of different ones instead. Especially of the kero burners.
