Does it mar mar the surface of the cap at all? If not, I'll be on the lookout for one.

I'm interested in knowing whether it mars the surface or if there's room to slip some leather inside to protect the cap.

After reading this I remembered I have one but unfortunately mine must be a smaller version as it won’t fit over a cap. Bummer too as I have a sears single I could use it on.  7D1606E3-13A7-48A7-8D80-1B26435A8A4F.jpeg

It didn’t mar the 2 I tried it on maybe they were less stuck on but just enough I couldn’t get it off. I’ll see if I have some scrap leather to and see if it fits

I cannot tell from the pic, are you using that wrench on the insert from a 3-piece cap, or the outer knurled piece?

One could always insert a thin piece of leather or old T-shirt between the wrench and the cap to prevent marring.  Very cool wrench that I haven't seen before.  I may need to buy one of those.

it is the inside part of the 3 piece filler cap the tool isn’t large enough to fit around the cap
