Made a delivery a coupon hours away today and stopped at a couple of my favorite hunting spots on my way back. At one I usually see overpriced 220/228 lanterns, there is a kampkook 2 burner they are very proud of. Well today was a little differnt. First these 2 200a lanterns, nice but a little overpriced. But the model 4 iron was not bad. I already have one but may grab this one, it's a little nicer.20200630_160523_copy_604x453.jpg Then I found these I believe one is a coleman model 2 with the key and a service center tag on the handle. The other is a monitor, according to Terry Marsh's site it was made before 1903. There is also a nice Akron with the triangular tank. I forgot to get a picture of it. I have one already, but it's missing the pump. I can probably get all 3 for 40 to 50 bucks, may have to call in the morning. Now I'm heading down another rabbit hole!!!!

Also can someone tell me how these work? I've seen images of them preheating with denatured alcohol under the lifted cover, does that pressurize the tank?

I have one of those Monitor irons, works good.  BTW, I probably have pump parts that fit your Akron Diamond if you want to get it working.

Looking for 6-56 and 6-58 Birthday lanterns.
There's been an alarming increase in the number of things I know nothing about.

Good to know on how they work, I was a little confused. It's funny I'm not at all interested in most lamps, but I love the asymmetrical industrial designs in the irons, even if I never use them, same with torches. But I dont want to go overboard.

That's the one I really like, reminds me of a battleship for some reason. I would love to get it running, I'll PM you.

Cool irons. Do they also have a Merrimack (CSS Virginia) iron to go with the Monitor?

Hahahahaha, it took me a minute, I thought you were telling me another iron to look for. Sorry I'm working at the pool but not in it and it's hot so my brain is a little slow.

Anyway I think the css Virginia is the one I think of when I see some of these irons.

No worries, Mike.  That was a master's level pun and you passed the test.  Well done.  Folks who don't know their Civil War history won't get it, so you must be erudite in addition to handsome and a GPA guru!
