Just won a BIN shade, expedited shipping was $15, seller wants $50 for total, so asked them if they needed another $35.  Also told them that I had just gotten a shade from Ohio that Priority Mail was $18.  Being held up?  They offered to cancel sale.  Trying for more money, seeing they listed the shade too cheap?

I’d be more concerned with the 18$ to ship a shade from Ohio to California but in regards to your BIN if freight was listed I’m not sure how they can raise price now!
Assuming a shade is 10” the USPS increases in cost above 12” and I can’t see packaging a 10” shade in less than a 12” box as they need to be double boxed with padding between two boxes!!
I frighten easily!

My current shade is Coleman!!

To me a lamp without a shade is creepy!

The seller had the opportunity to set the shipping cost high when they posted the sale.  Good sellers refund any remaining money after actually shipping the item.  I'd have to review the rules of the online auction site.  Sounds really unethical to me.  Unless you're requesting that they do some kind of special packaging above and beyond what they intended I'd say the seller should eat the extra shipping cost and chalk it up to a learning experience.

One of those times when I'd use the line... "So what are you going to do about this problem that you've created?"

Worked out, seller is packing in a smaller box, well padded and absorbed the extra cost.  Nice 81 yo lady.

Nice 81 yo lady? in that case now that you have it worked out where both are satisfied I would send her a nice surprise box of Sees candy. You will have her address and can order it locally in her town to be delivered from a secret admirer. Think how thrilled she be.

She also mentioned she was going to list another tonight as a heads up.  She emailed me and I snagged it, $25 shipping for a $55 shade.  Moving on getting some shades.  Sold some firewood, there's the money for a second shade.  I need to start matching shades or globes to lamps so I can see where I stand.

Nice finds, half price maybe of other listings, with all the lamp shades I need, nice to save where I can.

Just completed a sale with a British seller for a 80 yo Primus 71 stove with the adjustable air thingy, on the bell she was working with me on shipping to the USA.  Been a day, luckily I was online and saw the email pop up, so quickly snagged the stove.  Turns out it was her F-I-L stove he used before going off to fight or fly?  Nice that she took the time to work out shipping.  Sold my first one like this maybe seven years ago which was much nicer, now I know more about the role the wick plays in flame color.

Duane,
I have one with an adjustable air intake somewhere.  I really couldn’t tell much difference but didn’t play with it that much.  That feature did not seem to last long.
