I'm flying the whiskey tax rebellion flag to celebrate, and fired up my 09/91 550B, setup for kerosene, and brewed coffee on a 4 cup percolator. I bought this stove new, back then, and it was the only Coleman stove I owned for years until I joined this forum...

I was up early to go jogging, waving as the fire fighters drove by, light wasn't too good yet.  Sipping on my cup now.

Doors are open fan is on trying to flip the cool air for the hot air.  Expected 111 here today. So flipping the warm air for cool inside helps a lot.  We have a couple window AC units we run on days like this.  Keeps the house in low 70’s.

Guess I will join in making coffee and then go hang the stars and stripes.

Cheers Gents, and the rest of you too😉.

My experiments with the 530 and the six cup espresso pot did not go so well. Espresso was phenomenal but six cups plus a pot of traditional didn’t go so well the past two days. Today just regular coffee!

Good to hear from everyone. Hope you all stay cool (or warm depending where you are) and have a nice relaxing labor day. Back to my coffee, which tastes like motor oil now.

Tanks a lot Joe😆.  Bring some cool and clean air from up north when ya come back.  You didnt miss much when you were gone.  Hopefully air up there has been better.  My Dad in S. Idaho said its been smoky there last couple days.

HLD everyone!

Yeah Randy, we did the same here overnight.  Box fans in two windows blowing cooler air inside (had to wait til 11 PM for it to get cooler outside than inside...  It peaked here at 103 which is about as hot as its ever gets here) and a BIG fan on the mid landing, blowing upstairs to the top landing window to help exhaust the air...

One small room AC in the kitchen.  That helps a LOT

We still only got it down to the low 70's inside (the coolest it got outside was 69)  Yesterday we managed to keep it to 79 inside.  I don't think we will make it that low today...  yesterday they predicted 95,  earlier today 100, and NOW they are saying 102...  they are the Worst weather guessers around here...  it's already 92 (and climbing fast)  - Its supposed to break earlier though.  we MIGHT be able to open up by 9?

Nice start to the day Karen.
How do the 550B's perform on kero? Not that I've seen one down here yet, but it's a point of difference that would interest me.

Happy Labor Day to y'all, that's one you have the jump on us on, we celebrate our Labour Day with a Monday off end of October, it seems to fit nicely to a mind set of summer arriving and generally the restart of weekend camping.

I'll be glad when this is over! It looks like all of Portland and a few other states are here in Wallowa County today. Traffic is insane for our little streets and roads--not designed for this kind of load. Heck we don't have a traffic light in the entire county! One slow car on the highway between towns means a ten-minute traffic jam as everyone tailgates the slow guy, so I have re-routed to avoid the highway and main streets while I go about my business.

Other then that, I'm celebrating Labor Day by... laboring!

Y'all enjoy yourselves!

@Gunhippie that’s a bummer, having the spend Labor Day laboring. I’ve spent it walking through antique stores. I found a super weird ratchet and some itty bitty hurricane lamps I’ll post about in a few.

I've always ran mine on kero so I can't compare with CF. It's never given me any trouble though. To preheat, I cut a 2 inch piece of cotton rope/wick, hold it on a clip, dip it in kero, light it, and place under the generator for about 20 seconds, then fire it up. The stove works great with a 4 cup percolator, but for anything larger, a 533 type stove would be better.

I rode over to my son's house on my motorcycle this morning, (30 mi ride).  It was cold enough that I wore full leathers, with my heated vest....was there about 3 hours, rode home in my t-shirt, with a new tire & brakes on the bike.

Ain't that the truth. I guess the whiskey tax rebellion flag will have to do, in a pinch.

Labor Day has come to an end here and currently awaiting the arrival of a cold front from the north.  Spent a lot of the day prepping the yard for the rain/snow/cold temps that are barreling our way.  Covered some plants, brought others into the garage and 2 of the 3 tomato plants are in the kitchen.  100 yesterday with a high in the 30’s tomorrow.  Wednesday morning in the 20’s and back up to the low 80’s by Sunday.  Hope you all had a more relaxing Labor Day!  Yea, that is a sweet cup!

Thank you folks for the comments. Hope your day was enjoyable.
We've got storms moving through right now and cooler temps (70's) forecast. But no wild temperature swings like you guys out west are expecting.
