There was not a single inch on this thing without a dent out or a dent in so I wanted to challenge myself to see how good I could make it look as well as practice for my stove restorations....

I chose spruce green rust-oleum and used automotive bonds and primer. I spent about 4 hours total sanding, filling and painting over a week period...

I had a car with in and out dents like that.
Bought it from a bunch of divers.

I restored a 1978 firebird with my uncle when I was 16. Spent about 3 months on it so I got plenty of filling and sanding practice.....

Very nice restoration of that, Don, it looks great! I'd be hesitant to use it now...but it needs to protect a lantern on a trip, right?

Fantastic job on restoring your Handy Pail. I’d hate to get a scratch in it now. Like @Ridge Runner wrote, I’d love to find one for my collection as well. Looks awesome!

That's very well done.  Quite a transformation.  Where did you get the label?

Why not take it camping?  Its not original,  and can be repainted again if need be.. just make a sleeve (old Towels are my go-to) and try not to crush it.

If you found an original in that condition,  NOW you have a shelf queen...

Well, until I find that mint original, I’ll keep my restored pail on the shelf. You know, when guys restore rare cars, they don’t go out and trash them so that they can restore them again...... Right?
