Here is my example of this Australian paraffin / kerosene lantern, it's been well used, but it still works really well. Jeff.

Very nice.  I've got a Handi stove.
Very nice!  I've never seen one before.

I lift my lamp beside the golden door.

Nice one, been looking for an austramax for years, the Aussie stuff just dont show up here in Texas

A very nice example of the Handi Kero Pet, Jeff. These are very well made lanterns produced over a large period of time from the 40's to the 80's at the Handi factory in Brisbane. A lot of the Australian made lanterns, other than Coleman, were never date stamped, so it is a bit hard to determine the year they were made. There were numerous small variations or changes  made to these lanterns during the period they were produced which can help to classify them in the early or late catergory, but nothing really definative. They were also produced with a variety of vent colours over the years from red, brown, light grey, blue and black  which are ones I have seen. Their unusual tripod burner/air tube assembly is common to all years of production apart from the very first 'Swift Lite' petrol models.
One of the problems with them is the unique bulged globe which is almost impossible to find a common replacement for due to it's uncommen dimensions. So take good care of your globe, Jeff.

Hello fellow lampers, I'm glad that it's of interest and I obtained the lantern from an Australian pressure lamp collector, we had a swap![Yeah]

Thanks for the information Keith and the globes are scarce, but there is a smaller Petromax glass which is a decent fit for the Handi lanterns, Jeff.
The shape of the globe looks like the ones used on the Aladdin pressure lanterns.

I thought I would add my 2 cents to this long dead post ,  I recently acquired 2 handi  lanterns so I am hoping I can get them running and I am curious if there are any parts available ?
