I found this portable grill on Amazon. It's made of 1/8" raw unfinished steel. It will need to be cleaned and oiled just like steel or cast iron cookware and should last forever, and then some. It weighs 11 lbs. and came unassembled in a 12" x 8" USPS envelope. It assembles in seconds, without fasteners, and is surprisingly solid and stable. The grill handle has a bottle opener on the other end. A larger version is available as well.
It's made by On Point Welding located in Coopersville, Michigan, USA.
I'm looking forward to cooking a couple of burgers on this and I'll post the update with more pics. I'm waiting for a new charcoal chimney starter cause my old one is toast.

I like it when simplicity works!

That factory is apparently 40 miles from me and even closer to a couple other members.

I like the simple design and I really like the fact that it isn't made in China. I'd buy one just because it's not made in China. Thanks for sharing this with us.

That one is really cool, I love everything people are making with CNC lasers, routers and 3-d printers, well some of it at least. many designs are open source so if you know someone with the machine you can cut it yourself, I have a friend that made beehive this way on a router at school.

Here is one for the VW guys, a buddy of mine just got one, there are other vehicles too, and they are collapsible for transport,

That is an awesome grill and the knock-down fire pits look great also.
I need to show them to my machinist cousin and his employers.
Among other things, they make choke tubes for shotguns.
I could see them making some fire pits for advertising.

I look forward to your review. This looks pretty slick.

I've been contemplating picking up the Lodge Sportsmans' Grill.

I have been using my Campmaid Dutch oven lid holder, grill, and charcoal holder with good success. But it's not a true inclosed grill.

So, I finally got to cook on my new grill.
McGee tore up the instructions, as usual. That's ok. Instructions are for babies...

Fired up some Jealous Devil brand hardwood charcoal. "pure as heaven, hotter than hell".

After washing, drying, and oiling the 5 pieces, I did a dry run to burn off impurities, and season the grate. I used cast iron conditioning oil to repeatedly wipe on to the hot grate until it developed a nice
dark finish.

Later on, around dinner time, I fired up the grill again, and started cooking burgers. I got the frozen 1/4 LB., 16 to a box, burgers from a local deli. They fried beautifully, and tasted delicious. McGee got a couple bites too.

All in all, This is a great portable grill for 1 or 2 people. The best hibachi I've ever owned. If I needed a larger grill, I would not hesitate to buy the larger version.

Thanks for looking and happy camping!

You know Karen, some might take issue with how done your burgers are however....I only want a hint of pink myself especially with burger. You have a PERFECT burger there, as far as cooked level. Thank you for your seasoning technique too.

I'm a fan of that cooker now, AND your burgers. Good job.

I like to push a burger through the computer screen for you, if I could.

Thanks, Chuck. The nice thing about these frozen patties from the deli is that they're easy to cook and hard to screw up.
