I just grabbed this little dandy. I couldn't pass it up for $25. I didn't even try to bust him down,,,,lol. It's a little dusty, and the frame is a little rusty. But over all I think it's in great shape. It even has a nice pyrex globe.

He said he even had it working. But I didn't believe him because I've read that a modern tanks won't fit. So I didn't even take one with me. It didn't matter. I thought it would just look cool on a shelf,,,lol.  But then I got home and I'll be danged. My tank even fit's.

I admit I drove farther than I should have but I thought it was unique enough that it was worth going after. And the good news is it lead me to an antique mall where I hit the jack pot so to speak.

I was like a crack head on the bad side of town,,,lol.

So can you guys tell me anything I should know about this.

I don't know anything about that but it sure looks cool. I wouldn't mind being abducted by aliens if I could come home with one of those.

I forget who made those, but yeah, very cool.  I absolutely love the flying saucer vent!  Reminds me of the classic 50's sci-fi "Earth vs. the Flying Saucers".  That one is in really nice shape!  I bet it does fire right up, but because the seals are old, I'd only do it outside.

I believe Turner made those. That globe is made of pure unobtainium

Gotta love that typical late-50s/early-60s "space age" styling.  It evokes visions of "The Jetsons" and the NY World's Fair.  Great find!

I think it might have been you that said in another thread about these that ocp had the seals. But that was awhile back.

Are they special or can I get them at a hardware store.

Yes, that's a Turner, and very nice.  What the guys said about the globe!  Really hard to replace.
Nice one!

Nice, I've found and bought several but still yet to find one with a globe.

Can't remember what you guys said about it in another thread. Something about a different kind of air valve, or something. What's different about it?

I MAY have a couple of the smaller tapered globe that fits those  -would need to measure...

Nice unusual find!

I wish I could help, but that wasn't me.  I have no idea what may be needed.

It was a guy named Muzloadin in post #22 in this thread below. BTW. This is the only other one mentioned on the site. But I sure can't find anything on ocp.

Sounds like that reference is just for the gasket between the valve and propane bottle.

I wouldn't know about other possible gaskets.  If it's leaking, then disassembly may be required.

How the heck did you find that,,,lol. With out taking the valve apart I think that may be the only gasket that there is.

I went to OCP and searched 'gasket'.  It was the first one that came up.  🙂

Just a re-branded Turner propane lantern, Calvin. Early Westernfield and Turners like both mine, had a black water mark stamp on the globe, while the later ones had the green pyrex, small tapered globes. Also the later ones had the paper type decals and the early ones had the water slide decals. All are very similar with a different colors. aluminum vents and legs..campinut..

As far as the gasket goes. Mine is cork and looks very much intact. You guys think I could just put some oil on it.

I did a quick clean on it just so I could test it. It took a second to figure out how to work the darn thing. I thought I had a fuel leak. Then I figured out it has a fancy air/fuel mixer thing,,,lol.
