Some are still in boxes, wrapped in bubble wrap, a few still in lanterns, and I have some of those big cans you can get from restaurants I can store additional globes in, with bubble wrap.
Just ask at a restaurant or diner for the big (not sure what # they call them) food cans.  A diner across town gave me several, and they even rinsed them out for me.  Good for shipping, too.

I think it was Dean who had come up with an nifty way of displaying and storing extra globes safely.  It involved pool noodles and some sort of bracket, and put the globes on display up near the ceiling, above the top lantern shelf.

I keep the original ones in the lanterns, but I have some pretty sturdy shelving with a lip along the front. It's also built into the garage so the shelf can't tip over.
I do have extras that are stored in a steel belted cooler. I also found out 288 and 200 sized globes can fit inside 220 with some paper around them. There's room for 40 globes in 1 cooler.

I have found some old cans from ice cream makers that hold a couple of bubble-wrapped globes perfectly.  I store my red and amber globes in them and have even found some smaller ones that hold the 200A-size globes as well.  I‘d show some pictures but I am currently out of the state.  All the other globes are either on the display pieces or bubble-wrapped and stored in heavy duty fruit boxes in the house.

For extra 220-sized globes I wrap them in bubble wrap and put them in a small cardboard box with a note on top so I know what's inside. For smaller 200A/286-sized glass I use these cardboard sided containers with plastic lids. They are similar to a coffee can.

I'm using cloud storage for mine!

Seriously, stop by your local pub. If they sell 64 oz. glass growlers, they'll have the boxes they come in. Heavy duty, with a cardboard divider that hold 6 globes of any type with room for bubble-wrap.

I'll get a pic when I can.

That is an excellent idea Timm. I was joking earlier, but I just have mine carefully stored in a cabinet. I have a family member that works for a local brewery and I will see if they can get those. Thanks!

Sounds like a good project for a young teenager during a pandemic ðŸ˜‰... Not saying it can't be done, but if using a single generator to power two burners independently I would think you would either have one nice bright lantern or two dim ones... Maybe a double generator setup? You could become wealthy over night!!!(with experience)

I use #10 metal coffee cans.  I picked up a dozen at an estate sale a while back. They were never used for anything, and most had some coffee grounds in the bottom. They fit most globes except the big Thermos globes. They are steel and sturdy and if you use bubble wrap inside they are real protective - which is critical in my shop where occasionally thing go flying around.....

I am no coffee connoisseur, but I like my coffee like I like my women; strong, dark and rich. I usually buy Folgers or Maxwell house in plastic containers with well fitting covers.

The large containers will hold a 220 size globe and the small ones will hold a 200 size globe. I use these when working on a lantern otherwise the globe is stored on the lantern.

We were pretty excited when our favorite local brewery gave us one. Never thought they would have a surplus but who would by six growlers at a time?

Now there's an idea, Timm, would have never thought of that.  At least two small brew pubs here in town, and they do sell glass growlers.

I have quite a few spare globes I've picked up here and there.  After knocking one down (for a 222!) and busting it,  I repacked them all into sturdy boxes suitable for shipping, well padded, particularly from each other.  If one of those goes crash landing onto the floor, I'm 99% certain no damage will result.

One of my recent lantern buys came with the globe packed and padded separably in a coffee can with the lid packing taped on.  shipped in the same box as the lantern is was safe even from being pounded by the lantern in a drop.  I was impressed!
