Loveland Colorado that is. Road trip to the Land of Love and picked up this nice A 1947 220D yesterday. It was $75 then $60 and I then noticed that the globe was original and potentially a rare sunshine transitional. It has no underline! Next day it was $45 and made the road trip. I cleaned up the genny and oiled the pump cup and it fired up with the old gas in it, however one mantle had a hole and the other is only about 2/3s there. Held pressure overnight. 99.99% vent and it looks like the fount should clean up very nice. The inside is just surface rust and the bottom is clean. I just have these sales photos for now and a couple funky ones made with my iMac.
Residing now in the "Love Bunker", Cool, Gar

220D 47a $75.jpg
What looks like a chip on the left, turned out to be a bubble. It cleaned up nicely. No underline and also notice that the 'o' is more condensed than the later more common sunshine logo.

It will need an original fuel cap, but that is about it.

Not to much rust on the frame.

Not really this bright and pulses, so a rebuild is due, but hey. iMac camera.

Nice!!  And with that vent and globe the price was a steal.

I was just in Colorado last week. Where is Loveland?

Sweet find, Gary! That will shine up right nice.

I also like the glass when it has imperfections like that. IIRC, isn’t one of your B’s wearing a bubbled or wavy globe?

That's a sweet memento from your road trip grob. Really nice globe to have with that fine lantern you scored.
Looks just like the globe I have on my early 242B.

Hey L. J., Thanks, it is a nice one. When I drained the tank the fuel was a bit stinky and had a bit of residue (rust?), but looks good after run through a coffee filter. Ya my 35 220B came with a mid 40s military globe, no logo and steel vent nut. The globe is a little wavy and I have it on my 36 228B now. Would like to get a large green 33-46 logo globe for one of them, someday. Gar

Thanks Joe. Gotta pic of that globe? I'm doing a globe guide for 220 type and will do a single mantle one eventually if I get enough material.

Hey Gar, stay on your side of the road!  Oh, wait a minute, LoveLand is on your side!  ðŸ˜‚
Nice lantern and it should clean up nicely.  Yea, I been seeing that and you even gave me a heads up last week.  Of course, it was still $70 at the time.  Sure didn't hear from ya when it hit $45!  😁  Seriously though, I'm glad that you got it and can't wait to see it shined up.  I'm pretty sure I have a 3-piece cap for that one.  I'll check and let ya know.

Hey Hey Hey fair warning... gotta keep a sharp eye. Ya it was the globe... the globe made me do it!!! Jeff saw it too... speaking of Jeff I stopped buy and he cranked that pesky silver band CV out for me with 'the tool'. Man does he have some lanterns! Gotta leave the county once in awhile. I am 2 weeks into waiting for a package with a proper cap for my 228B and a grate for my oven (USPS)... CRAAAP!  Zee cap would be, how you say... cooool, non?

Gary, here's a couple of pics of the 242B globe for you. The lettering on it is a bit faded compared to yours but I hope it works for what you need.

I went to Lake City. The last time I was there was 30+ years ago while vacationing with my parents. It really hasn’t changed much. I guess the locals don’t want it to become a full blown tourist location.

If you need a Sun Flame Generator Model 100-107 ( for Sunflame lanterns models 105, 106, 107 and 110) give me a PM, I have close to 80 of those, 15 bucks each.

Jason, Werner, I lived in Gunnison (Gunny-Sack) while I went to Western State (Wasted State) 50 years ago. 50 below at night and warmed up to 30 below during the day! Had friends in Lake City... good fishin' near there. Crested Butte (Crusty Butt) sure has changed. Used to be dirt streets and the sheriff went to bed at 8pm and then we did what ever we wanted. The Grubstake bar closed whenever! Gar

Joe, that is yet another. It would not be original to the mid 30s, thanks, G

Gary, I love your names for the CO towns especially crusty butt. I’m claiming that one. 30 years ago my little brother had a Crested Butte cap and I always called him crusty butt. When I arrived in Lake City in was like 11Pm and talking about shutting down when the sun goes down, I couldn’t find a place to stay so I drove another 60 miles or so to Gunnison. It seemed like a pretty neat place.

"Good Times at the La Veta Hotel"
Marios Pizza if you go "Back to Gunny Sack". Here is where I lived then. It was the La Veta Hotel in it's heyday. My apartment was on the far left on the old photo. The 70s photo is the D&RG railroad office in front left. There was a safe inside that a friend used as a bedroom. They took it apart for the iron in WWII. All gone now. Swank!

I think I have been to Gunnison at least once, must have been early late 90's, 2000's, cant remember. I got the lantern fever in 2012, and I have learnt some about them since. my collection is very small and everything except three pieces work. currently I am down sizing and getting ready for a move, so it is not in my best interest to get more stuff.

The collar is not real round. It is like a rounded decagon. I tried to roll it out with a large socket, but didn't work. So... Whats up with that? It cleaned up well. The inside of the fount came out pretty clean with the BB dance.

The bottom of the frame had 2 rust spots that I used naval jelly on and then painted the bottom of the round area hi-temp silver.

The carburetor. This mixing chamber is bronze. I have seen an E mixing chamber polished up and was cast brass... I think. I left both of my Es original and did not clean the brass, so don't know.
