Got inspired with parts for a 243/243A from the recent auction I won.  Found a decent, complete fount with collar on the bay which I needed.  Seems most are pretty rough.  Unfortunately today after trying to fit the vent, the burner/cage I figured out were for a 242.  Luckily, the parts from the Kansas auction were correct, vent fit the stud on the top of the burner and allowed the bail to go in the holes in the mixing chamber.  After I had spent time cleaning up the 242 burner and extracting spider nest and dauber nest.  Just added a washer to the fuel cap, oiled the pump cup and was able to fire yesterday before changing out parts today.  Can't tell if vent is black or dark blue.  The old genny tip ate two pricker rod tips so installed a new genny, don't know what happened.  I need to change out the mantle, damaged it a tiny bit when changing parts.  🙁

That looks really good. Glad to see another one all back together.

That looks very nice. I still haven’t found one of those. My guess is that the vent black but it’s difficult to tell like you say.
not looking for any more Bday gpas. Honestly, if you have a 10-72 don’t let me know about it.

Glad you got it all fixed up Duane, your vent in the pictures looks to have a little blue to it. My 39 looks jet black to my eye...
Clocked correctly since this picture.

Thank you guys for the comments.  Still have three lamps from the auction to go thru.
At the Norcal Gathering we just had, gave away a old QL and stuck a Thermos two mantle in front of the camp and it went by morning.  Making room for older lanterns.
