I search ALL the time and have never once found a confirmed shade in the wild.  Today, stopped at thrift store and couldnt believe my eyes.   20 bucks (which I thought was a little high in a thrift store!) And it was mine.  Finally!

Can someone with a shade book give me the approx year of the peacock 444?  Thanks.

Shade book says 27-31 USA to 38 in Canada!
It looks like a 12” 444 from here?

Yes it is a 12 inch 444.  I have several shades that I put on lamps and some look pretty good but this is my first original so I am happy.  Despite there being a ton of lamps in western Canada, I sure dont find many shades.  I figure it was likely due to the homesteaders making due without the luxury and cost of a fancy shade.

Thanks for the dates.

From here, that looks like uranium glass.  Does it glow green when you put a blacklight to it?

Wow, the nerve of that thrift store charging $20 for that shade!  I would gone straight to the manager and asked if he had any more!  🤣
That is in beautiful condition and looks great on that beauty of a CQ.  Congrats!

Judging by the color unlit as well as lit, I bet it is uranium glass.

Uranium glass was also called Vaseline glass.  Somewhere around WWII, the gov't took over all uranium so that put an end to uranium glass.   Uranium glass has a unique beautiful color like that, and will glow green under a blacklight.  Well, when it's in a dark room.  🙂   Nothing to be afraid of though.  I bought a lamp an estate sale just to get the uranium glass shade, although mine is an Akron.  Your shade is absolutely stunning.
