Got a 200a with a black band for a song. It seems the rust in the fount is going to end up killing it. Should I just replace with a standard 200a fount? See how it turns out and give it a ride? Just looking for thoughts.

thanks!

You're the only one who's  going to know the date isn't right.  And while you're enjoying it you can keep an eye out for a fount in the correct date range.

unless someone looks at the decal 😬 BB have them right on the bottom seam, among other slight differences.

How rusty is it?  Any pinholes?  Sometimes they can look pretty bad but still clean up okay.

thats what I’m trying to figure out. It will only be a matter of time as I’ve had evaporust in it so I will update later. Any suggestion on whether to strip down and paint the fount/put on new decal?

thanks everyone

That's hard to say without seeing it.  How about a picture?  This one is just going to get running like new and a good washing. DSC01983.jpg

84B38062-B018-439B-ADAC-7196146F5498.jpeg Here is how it ended up. Unfortunately the rust on the collar meant most of the black coming off. But for some reason, since it works, I kind of love the rustic feel of it. I’m not selling it so I’m just going to like it how it is. I think she needs a new generator, but she’s working pretty well after a preheat. Was super rusty, and this was about as good as I could get it, without going crazy. But all the internal are as clean as could be.

the more I use the more I love.
