I recently bought a Coleman Catalytic heater.  I believe it may have been fro the 60's based on the color, but I'm not sure.  How can I date this Heater?  I've provided a couple of photos for reference.

Thank you,

Are you sure there’s no date stamped on the bottom?

I should have looked before I posted. I apologize.  I turned the heater over and
found the date on the bottom.  It was made in 1973.  There is a 2 on the left side of the bottom, and a 73 on the right side.  I am assuming that it was made in February 1973, is that right?

Thanks again.

How rare is this heater in this color.  Most of what I an find is either the standard Coleman green or a light green.  I can't find any other heaters in yellow.

Yes, Feb ‘73. Rare? Not necessarily. Some think it is a Gold Bond heater but not true. It was one of the popular colors in the 70’s like we had for appliances...coppertone, harvest gold, and avocado refrigerators were the rage for a few years!

Paint is sometimes thick and obscures the date.

I paid $50 for it.  Was that too much?

George your heater is only worth what someone is willing to pay 😀

As long as you are happy with the heater; that’s all that matters.

It looks clean. I would enjoy it by using it. Post some pics of you using/ enjoying it

Oh man. That color reminds me of my family’s kitchen in the ‘70s.

That’s a cool heater. Once this mid-modern craze dies down, I’m betting ‘70s stuff will be the next rage. Hang on to that for a few years, I’ll bet you double your money.

Nevertheless, it’s groovy.

I dated one once. She broke my heart, wrecked my car, and stole my dog.
It's priceless until someone puts a price on it.

$50 might be a little high.  I paid $12 for my green one the same size 2 or 3 years ago, at a Goodwill.  I haven't used it much, but I love it.  I did use it last week. I camp in my van, and I cracked the front windows a bit, and the rear window swings open at the bottom. It was the perfect amount of heat, and the flow of air out the front kept the O2 fresh.

I have a couple of green ones. They take the night chill off while night fishing quite well.
