It's a bail from a 5-gallon plastic bucket. Hang the lit lantern from that and you'll be cleaning plastic off the vent for a while.

I have the same bail on my Keggeratern, but it's mostly decorative--you don't carry or hang a 35 lb lantern by the bail.
