Found this beauty in the bottom of a junk box in an antique store... She's a peach ain't she?
Figured it worth the $9 for parts. Fount sounds like it's full of wood chips... I'm scared to even look. Hopefully it can be saved. This makes number three I've bought within an hour of the house this past 10 months. Thanks for looking and have a nice day.

I'll try to get started on this late next week. Have another to finish up before I start on this one.

Okay.... I just thought my day wouldn't get any better... But it did.. Me and the wife were heading to a couple towns over from where I found the slant to grab a bite to eat. Got there too early for dinner so I hit a flea market a friend told me was supposed to have some common greenies.. Just too look. I've been in this particular market several times always being disappointed as it typically has bad yard sale items... So I'm blazing through looking for something that catches my eye... Almost to the last booth and BAM!!!... Pretty sure my boots screeched.

IMG_20200905_171139_copy_907x1209.jpg
Yep another 334 shade for the stable.... When am I going to find some Coleman glass? This one has the darker upper inside portion where my other one is white if I remember right. Anyhow there's this goofy looking lamp attached to it as well... 🙂 I will need some help from the pros in this department to identify... I will get some pictures of the burner as I'm certain it's later... At least the valve wheel is....

But that's not all... I left this one behind like an idiot.. Did not recognize it either.

IMG_20200905_161516_copy_816x1088.jpg  IMG_20200905_161524_copy_997x1329.jpg
Notice the holes... I was crushed and set it back down. At least took some pictures and Kevin pointed out it was worth $15 for the parts on it... I know the owner of this booth and he had some other lamp stuff, so I may contact him to try and make a package deal.. anyhow what a day!!.... I'm ready to sit back and read the forum... Have a nice evening.

Looks better than mine when found!

Funny you should mention wood chips. I'm fettling a 220F for a friend today--in trade for my Hawthorne--and something was rattling around in the fount. After ten minutes of shaking and blowing with a blowgun, a three-inch piece of split wood popped out. Friend says this was his father's lantern, so I'm betting it was my friend who put that in there as a kid.
It's priceless until someone puts a price on it.

Two “Q” lamps, a 334, and a slant that is a extraordinary day !

Can we see the mixing chambers?

Yes Larry, I'm getting the little guy to bed now, then I'll get some pictures. I left the lamp with the holed fount till I can talk to the booth owner. Are you looking for pictures of the slant mixing chamber as well?

Go back and get that other lamp! The holes are drilled, not rusted, so they can be patched.

I like the what I believe is an early valve wheel on the one you left and am to lazy to find Larry’s posts on fuel cap progression. Round early fuel caps are good any time you find them. They both appear Slightly different  but earlier than hex. Was thinking one might be sunshine safety but no longer feel that.
Nice haul and go back and get the drilled one. It’ll be worth your while.

Here's several pictures. I believe this is standard CQ burner... But looks like an exclamation mark in the casting? Don't remember that one...

No visible stress cracks... I believe this is a roll seam pictured above? Goess all the way around... Very clean inside! No rust, just a little dry fuel residue to flush out. Slant mixing chamber pictured as well.

Yes! I'm not sure what I was thinking?! I've paid over the $15 asking price for a shade holder in the past... I'm still an amateur ðŸ˜
I think the hole in the fount put me off... And I believe that to be fixable... Not sure what would've been modified to the valve assembly in the electric conversion process...

Weldless shade holder was one thing I mentioned in my pm!

I am a Lamper just recently. It’s a struggle and at times painful to see what some walk away from. If you find a wickie with an early transitional shade for 100$, talk em down to eighty and walk away without the lamp n shade I’m coming down for an intervention! I say this in jest but just like early unknown low cost lanterns at 2x standard pricing buy and then ask.
Troll threads from the experts in your off time. You’ll be surprised at what you’ll recognize in se wild.
Enjoy, it looks like your having fun!

Toby, the burner and valve are later variety than the fount, round fuel filler, and shade holder. The other lamp with hole looks to have more correct stuff.

Kevin, that's exactly what I do, and I believe why I can spot this stuff. What a rush when you find these in the wild!! Still looking for that Coleman glass tho ðŸ˜

Thanks for confirmation Larry, I figured it was later CQ uppers... To be honest I bought it for the 334... The funky fount was just a bonus. I'll do my best to swing by tomorrow to grab the other lamp... There's a few more there that caught my interest as well, a double burner CQ which you can see part of in my original pictures and a later Kero lamp also. Will try to bring them all home for one price hopefully.

In the picture on the right your actually seeing the bottom of the fuel stem at the top of the fount... It is missing the pickup tube in the fount somehow...I guess for the wires..

I'm confident I could seal the fount easy enough...I would have to think about how to install a new fuel pickup tube tho... I'm still shocked I found two Q lamps on the same day in the same town in two different stores... Wish these things could talk.
