Heck of a deal! Everywhere around here just pro-rates the price of the batt. If you have 30% remaining one the warranty, you get 30% off.

I buy Interstate 72 mo. and usually replace them a few years after the warranty expires.
It's priceless until someone puts a price on it.

its an Interstate battery Timm , i know some places have good , better n best batteries . but at Costco they only cary the one size at 36 months ......i checked out all the batteries there none were for more than 36 months now .    now first i had AAA confirm it was my battery not the starter but they wanted 150 plus .......... funny thing is no one at Costco ever tested the battery .

I used Costco for my batteries too and now switched to Sam’s Club for everything but I have no need for batteries yet.
Costco went overpriced almost in anything they sell, I know their return policy is top notch. I’m doing good in Sam’s club and they offer free shipping to my home so no need to be at their warehouse except for perishable food, fruits etc.

I love Rubios too and I always enjoy an imported beer there.

Costco’s customer service is like Federated Department stores back in the day! Supposedly the bulk of their profits are made off of memberships.

Let’s see a picture of that Interstate Battery Steve. We should be able to ID who made it for them.

Whats the part number of the battery? 36 months seems short but I’m guessing they may be like water heaters? Same unit with longer warranty costs more. It’s interesting the longest 100% replacement  warranty from a Interstate for a conventional battery is 48 months, the next longest is 30 months then 24 followed by 18 and finally twelve months.

My friend who passed away would only sell interstate because they had the raised fill caps. There only a few plants in the US producing them with different brand names on them.

so i did a little homework at interstatebatteries.com , if you just go buy it from an interstate dealer (not costco ), same battery is 120 clams and only comes with a 24 month replacement ,,,,, costco it costs 76.00 and comes with 36 month replacement warranty , an interstate dealer can offer a BETTER battery at 144.95 but it only comes with a 24 month replacment ....... so i think for money spent its hard to beat Costcos deal .

i talked to the salesman and across the board they have lowered battery warranty's at costco since we were there last time .

we get our TV's there as well cuz they give you an extra year of warranty .

Mexican made could be a Johnson Controls battery. I think Deka is the only U.S. made brand out there. We use them at work and they do pretty well but they seem to sulfate easier when they sit discharged and don't come back as easily as other brands. They will usually go 5 years before crapping out if they stay charged. Mainly 3 group 31 in parallel or 2 8D in parallel. The maintenance free versions have saved me a ton of labor, the removable cap batts were always leaving a mess and eating up cables and connectors. Once we changed over, life was so much better. We did have a pair of Korean made Global Yuasa 8Ds go 13 years once. Not made there anymore and not as good anymore either.  Glad Costco took such good care of you Steve. The Rubio's is a bonus too. Yeah.  No  more 5 and 6 year warranties here in California.  And the prices are through the roof.  Disappointing as I was a huge interstate fan as a kid, now Ive had no better luck with them than say napa or kragen.

I had a gold top autozone battery last an astounding 11 years !!!
In all fairness it was trunk mounted so it was not subjected to excess heat.

I'm sure I'll not see that happen again !

Has anyone else tried Optima batteries, the average lifespan my brother, friend, and I were getting is 7-8 years with my friend getting slightly less due to automatic sliding doors on his car.

They're a sealed gel cell, completely maint free, vibration resistance, can be mounted in any orientation, provide 1000 cranking and 800 cold cranking amps, and supposedly they can be shot and still start the car, only downside is $225 price tag.

The OEM battery in my Dodge pu with Italian diesel engine is similar in capacity, design and price. The good news is it 6 years old, the bad news is it’s 6 years old.

We have 6 huge batteries in an electric man lift, they are being replaced on an "as needed" basis.
Batteries Plus gave us the best deal ($225 or so) others were twice that.

New Optima batteries are made by Johnson Controls the older ones made by the original company were way better but the new ones aren't bad they tend to last between 6 to 10 years depending my original Optima batteries went through three vehicles and lasted 20 years

Around here, you are lucky to find a 36 month warranty. Long gone are the days of the Die Hard 60 and 72 warranties.
The last Deka I purchased, the dealer said there was NO warranty. He stated that if it didn't make it 36 months, it wasn't a Deka (I tend to agree).

The new optima batteries aren't very good. I had an old one that worked great but a replacement in 2013 didn't last at all. If you off-road at all and are looking for a decent AGM the duralast AGM batteries at autozone are a pretty good bargain if they have one in your size. Most guys I talk to say the same thing about AGM, cheapest you can find except optima. I've just started using Costco/Interstate for normal flooded batteries, can't beat the price.

Aren't the AGM batteries prone to stress cracking?

Did you mean FedMart instead of Federated?   Sol Price founded FedMart and then went on to start Price Club which then merged with today's Costco.

I still have a Stanley carpenter level I bought at FedMart with the price sticker on it.

Rubio's is great; I'm on CA central coast and we lack that here.

My 2004 4Runner came with a Panasonic battery. It lasted 14 years. It was still starting the car 3 years after the auto tech told me it tested dead. I wish we could get them here.

Exide and Johnson Controls are the main manufacturers of lead acid batteries in the US under many of the names we're familiar with.  It's always a shot in the dark nowadays who makes the best battery.  30 years ago, I'd buy a Die Hard Gold and it would last 7 years.  Now you start getting itchy after 3.  Maybe it has something to do with the modern charging systems that vary their charging to help with mileage vs the old systems that would continually pound the battery with 14-15V.

Not sure all NAPA filters are now but they used to be relabeled WIX. Still prefer the WIX followed by Baldwin.
And yes batteries seem to have dropped in quality over the last 15+ years.

Napa filters were made by Gard who also made Wix filters for them in some applications. I'm not sure who makes them now. I won't run anything but Motorcraft even on my Challenger they're the only things that will hold up to the high pressure.
