Cornstock 2.png
We are having the 1st annual Cornstock - 2 Days of Lamps, Lanterns and Stoves gathering in the Cherry Glen Campgrounds at Saylorville Lake, Iowa. This event will be from Friday through Sunday May 10th through May 12th. This gathering is for all Iowa and surrounding area collectors of GPA.

We are not able to book as a group but here is the list of electric campsites where we'll be: 083, 086, 088, 090, 093, 097, 098, 099, 102, 124, 125, 126, 127. There are other sites available in the area but these will be the central location. With camping season starting, the sites will be booked quickly so make your reservations sooner rather than later. There are also some local hotels in the area for those who do not wish to camp.

Please let me know if you want to attend so we have a head count. Once we have a good idea of the attendance we can iron out more details regarding the light up, food, etc.

Camping reservations can be made at Recreation.gov.

As it stands we will have 2 of the 3 known (at least to me) popcorn machines there making some delicious GPA treats!

Update: Our light up theme for this event will be......... lamps! Bring along your favorite lamp to light up. Also, Diane and I will provide breakfast on Saturday morning and KT will be smoking some pork butts for Saturday evening's supper. Please bring a side to share. I'll be providing live music. There will be plenty of buying, selling and trading! See you in a few weeks!

We have Cherry Glen picnic shelter #6 rented for the day on Saturday! This is a beautiful shelter location overlooking the lake, a favorite spot on the lake. So if you want to come for the day and don't want to camp, or want to camp in another campground we have a place to get together with plenty of parking too.
Gasoline under pressure,...and fire?   What's not to love!

I live in Geneseo, IL about 19 miles east of Davenport along I-80. I wanted to attend Cornstock but my schedule gets full on weekends with hiking club hikes and church. Seems I am geographically caught in between Great Lakes and Cornstock. With such a wet year, Cornstock could be replaced by Mudstock. This crop year is testing a grower's ability to manage planting and harvesting, if any. This year is a huge learning experience for growers. Hasn't been this wet since '73.  If you decide to have a fall Cornstock, let me know.
