I wish my “collection” kept me busy.
My friends don’t call me “Lantern/lampie Levi”
for nothin’,if they did call me that.

Looking for bday lanterns 8/38, 8/41,
10/25, and 8/07

The biggest lie I tell myself is

I have slowed way down so not hardly anything in the queue.  There is a Prentiss-Wabers that showed up on my workbench last weekend but I’m in no hurry to start cleaning it up.  Next time you light one for testing, leave it running for a bit and then it will become fun!  😁  I always have a couple of things lit when fettling!

get some modern coleman mantles on your collection and you will be busy replacing them due to the holes in them. i have a bunch to change out. i will try to slow down a bit too and plan on fettling way slower. i have 2 canadian 200 ones i am restring currently. my plan was to do 2 at a time but i will only do one at a time now.

I burned in some mantles on a couple lamps I had finished.  One should have ran good, ended up putting another burner on and tried a couple gennys, finally got it running bright.  My Thomas Kerosafe wanted to keep burning rich, so tried it on CF instead, whoa, really bright.  Was gifted or will pay a little for some small stoves a couple members sent PM's to me today, one gift coming is a surprise, so waiting to see what it is.

Seems there’s always a piece that could use some attention around here.  Lately been working on a recent 530 acquisition, yesterday pulled the vaporizer screen and burned the carbon off, cleaned the tip and then made coffee on it, ‘insert eyeroll from wife here’.  Later painted the fount on a 220e.  This morning cleaned up the 220e pump and vent nut.  Plan to apply the second coat on the ‘E’ tomorrow.  There’s a 200a and 228 waiting in the wings and now that I’ve started using citric, I have some nickel pieces that I want to get back to.  Then there’s another 530 that needs a vaporizer cleanup, then there’s another, and another, and another...That’s the problem with waking up at zero dark thirty.

PS.  Fettled the vaporizers on the other two 530’s.  Pulled the screens and cleaned the tips.  Only one screen needed to be burned, the other one I had done last year.  Had my own little 530 light up this morning, pic posted on the mil single light up topic.

I bought so much so fast in my first 4 or 5 years of collecting that I put myself in a hole that I may never get out of so I always have things to work on.

I have also slowed down obtaining them, but I still have around 25 in the queue. Now I'm about to stop work again I am looking forward to tackling some nice ones over the autumn/winter: a Mountie, a couple of 243B's, 2 JC's, 2 pinkies, a 427, just to mention a few!
Ian - Looking for these dates 7/82, 7/92, 8/93, 9/03, 11/05, 5/17

I’ve tried to scale back acquisitions but I still keep the feelers out and then at some point they find me. Which isn’t necessarily a good thing?
Maintaining focus is a concern I’m really trying to figure that out. I’ll start with getting rid of everything prior to 1970 but that’s only 5% of what I have.

It’s a disease!

My current shade is Coleman!!

To me a lamp without a shade is creepy!

Focus on collecting with a goal to fit "in a set" rather than buying "just to have"   ...... strong temptation but can be overcome.

I've just started to make an inventory after I'd put everything in the shelves so far only.
I'm close to 100 for the Colemans, not considered all the lamps yet. I fount out the queue for restoration is much longer than I thoght.
I'm not sure where the inventory will take me will all the Sears', Kamplites, AGMs, various stoves, Aladdins, incandescent vapor lamps, wickies etc. etc.  [sEm_blush8]

I do all my fettling in my shed, which is not climate controlled, so July and August usually see little to no action. Hopefully, cooler temps are right around the corner, and I can get back to the mountain of lanterns I purchased in my first 2 years of collecting that remain untouched.

I have several 220s and 228s in the queue that I'm considering letting some of you all fettle. I really don't need any  more green, and have no room for them!

It's been a really slow year for sales. The very few I've stopped in at have generally had nothing interesting at all. I think I've found one 200A and one 220E this season, both for "Can't pass 'em up" prices.
It's priceless until someone puts a price on it.
