I picked up one of these type heaters..
s-l400 (6).jpg I am not sure if it is operating to it's full potential? When turning knob to the left to warm thermocouple it hisses loudly but when it is operating, it is more of a slight hiss. Never encountered one of these heaters so I am not sure if it is working properly? No hose leaks or obstructions and seems to be a solid unit. Any help would be appreciated..campinut.

These do not put out blazing heat, though obviously from across cyberspace I cannot tell if yours is up to speed.  Low bottle weakens output as well.

That one is a lot noisier on light up than run.  I have at least one and had it from new.

That's normal for those to do that. I've had plenty of them, and they've all been the same way. Good little heaters though. I live in Amish country and the Amish in the area used to use these for buggy heaters until they started plumbing in propane radiant heaters with a 5lb cylinder mounted under the seat.

Thanks guys! Makes sense to have more heat to preheat thermocouple. As I drop to lower heat settings the less gas sound I hear. Like Keith said, "They are not the greatest heaters for output" nothing like my Focus 5 radiant but a cool l@@king heater with a solid construction and worth the few dollars, I spent on it. Just was curious about if it was running up to par..campinut..
