Not a stove you see everyday, to be sure. I know of two such, this one, and Ken Lunney's. Beautiful.

I'd trade a 243B for that!

What?  Another Ranger?  I think this is only the second one know.  It's beautiful.  Is it as found?  The marking look to be the same as mine.  Nice find.

Yes  Roland, I think it's never been touched, a few surface rust areas. The gentleman I bought it from said he found it in a closet of a house he was clearing out, "The box had 80 years of coal dust on it!"
Ernie ,I knew you'd like it!

First post here. I found a Canadian Coleman Advertisement from 1955 in an auction. Its a double sided 3 leaf foldout crammed with stuff. They took pictures of it folded out and it shows the 4M tourist on a stand as well as 2 other stoves with the later tank. Heres a link, you'll have to scroll to find it. Pics aren't great but you can zoom in for a little detail. So anyone looking to date stands, parts and other accessories might find it interesting.

https://ontario.hibid.com/catalog/109244/advertising-online-auction---signs--tins--bottles--ephemera/

I've been collecting data on the various versions of the 4M after finding one by accident. Advertisements have been a fantastic source of info. The only issue is they're black and white and its hard to tell if legs are painted or knobs are black or red. I've expanded the Canadian timeline pdf for 4m with a new column for notes where changes show up and years of adverts show a particular configuration. So far I've got the 4M being made from 1955-1963 in various forms. The only thing that stays the same is the case and tank. legs, guards, arms, burners, knobs and decals all vary. I'm applying the same research techniques as I would for antique military firearms. where period documents and unmolested, unrestored examples are the best source of info. Avoiding peoples memory from decades ago and examples where a restoration may have erased clues and added mistakes.

My dad bought this new. 5B with datestamp 64  1 on the tank hanger. Does that make a new data point for the spreadsheet? Dragged it out after who knows how many years and fired it up. No problem even with old gas in the tank.

Hi
Just thought I'd add my Canadian here.
The case is a 4k as per Rolands example, but the tank is Everdur and the manifold and burner assembly is cast.
Grate is a homemade replacement
As to whether it's an original 4K freak or a later frank, I have no idea?

Cheers

Hi Archie
The burner looks the same as Rolands 4H and another 4H over at CCS, but the manifold has a different pedestal to both of them, allowing it to be mounted directly below center rather than slightly offset like the 4H appears. Nice stoves Archie!
Burner on 6H looks the same as mine, as does the 4H burner. but the manifold is different with the offset pedestal mounting bolt hole as also seen of the 4H 6337 manifold, whilst mine has a casting number of 6337 it has the different centered pedestal to suit 4K case.

Funny, just posted on one of your posts about that.  I cannot see any number but the stove has some surface rust.  How big is the number?

I think your stove is earlier than mine just from a few noticeable differences. One is the fuel tank is different, the burner key attached to the chain on mine has a recessed spot on the heat plate to put it. Your plate does not have this. You suitcase only has one clasp, mine has two. Your oven supports are the flat bar on the side mine is a wire stand that unfolds. I’ll work on that manual as well.

Interesting, amazing the different in this Canadian model.  You are right, mine does not have the recessed spot for the key as well as different oven supports.   Not sure I see a difference in the fuel tanks, except the pump knob which I think mine is a replacement. Can you do me a favour, I need to make a stencil for the word "Coleman" on the tank.  What is the height of of the "C" and "l" and the lower case letters.  As well as the end to end of the word Coleman measurement.  Thanks.

Hey ColemanNewbie33, I used the picture of your tank to make a stencil.  See the Before and After section.  Any luck finding your Model 1 manual?  Cheers
