I use the Egrets on my 236/237's and love them the burn in more bulby? Is that a word? I think they transfer more heat to generator becuase they almost touch

Don't you have proper sized ones?  Our sponsor OCP sells them if unaware.

one of my 200a's drives a Peerless 24-a  very nicely while another doesn't quite fill it out. could be a difference in generator tip or who knows but it can work.

I tried it once.  I didn't measure it, but it seemed the lantern ran a lot hotter in the collar/fount area.   The largest mantle I would use now is a Peerless 2C-HG, but that's only if I didn't have access to Coleman #21's.

Flammable liquids, open flame, what could go wrong?

I sure they will work, but kind of like wearing size 10 shoes when you are a size 8?😉

One can use larger than normal mantles if they are shortened up a bit and attached with twist ties or similar.

so let me recap.
i can use them but they transfer more heat energy to the gen tube and fount.
maybe 500cp mantles would be good in a cold climate.
i could use 500cp mantles but there is no reason to if i have 21’s.

i bought a 200A the other day with what appears to be a new 500cp mantle installed but not burned in yet.
i thought i read somewhere on the forum where a 500cp mantle did or would work on a 200A?

ok thanks guys,

Burn in the mantle on light up. It will shrink a bit and probably work well if it’s a good runner.

I use these all the time. No problems at all.

EDIT: In fact, I just snapped this outside right now as the sun is going down - a 335P running exactly one of these mantles...
