This campground is one at Davis Lake Calif near Portola, Ca, roomy and well spaced. CCF Members had a campout there a few years ago. The dates have been set as a CCF member (Ethan) made normal reservations, then decided to invite other people! Make reservations here: Davis Lake Lightening Tree.

There are a good number of walkup/driveup sites as well, our experience is something is nearly always available. Ethan booked site 30 for July14-July19th.  Jane and I plan to be in site 31, the 16th to the 19th, but may came up earlier and take a walkup site.

Come one come all invited. If you want reserve a site soon, all the sites 26-34 look good (some are double sites and can be shared), Jane and I went to check it out last weekend, Feel free to contact Ethan or I for information.

This campground has a limited number of sites that can be reserved, most are first come only, during the middle of the week most of them are open and once you get one you can stay for a week. Here in Reno we often go camping at Washoe Lake campground and often have to go Thursday to be sure to get a site, or early Friday morning, never fails to secure a site... so far anyway. It should be much the same for Davis Lake campgrounds.

There’s no telling where I’ll be in mid July. I’ve been cooped up too long and developed a debilitating case of road virus. If I’m here, I’ll be there.

Looks like my other plans can be delayed a week.  Will see if I can get a site, having issues negotiating online to make reservations if any are still available.  At the least would get some fuel from Charlie and go home.

A few stoves to trade or sell outright, trade for fuel.  I realize not many seem to be going, so if little interest, won't bring.
The Adelake 300 lamp is just for trade since that was given to me.  Fired once, just by me.  Small guy.
AGM 1945, top repainted by me, I think this was only stored or old stock, seller wanted the case, looked unfired.  I've fired it up a couple times.
Sunflower Vacuum #2 stove, burner about the size of a 210 or 00.
Venus 100 silent.
Not sure what I would trade for, maybe half a campsite for two nights?
Loosing some interest, so may start downsizing.

I’m planning on going Duane but don’t think any of the reservation sites are left.  I am not worried as I can camp about anywhere they will let me.  Not looking for more stoves but am bringing a few for use and display.

Thinking may come up on a Thursday to secure a site, hate to just hang out for two full days.  I get half price, so cost is much better.  Gonna bring a couple neat items.

that 2 burner stove is pretty cool btw

We were missing Ed and Jane, a few new faces appeared and some faces from deeper in California.  Missed getting pics of their camps.
Charlie brought one of his brothers, Joe, letting me camp with them.  Our camp was the 5:30 AM noisie old guys site, after listening to generators all day elsewhere.
I used my AGM milspec lantern and recent buy, a LZ327.  Cooked on a 416C, Optimus 22B, Optimus 100.
Dave (Easyrizer) helped me make a solder repair on the Thomas Kerosafe that Marty brought for me that he sold me, he having too many projects.  Mike(Giant Kid) had a campfire a couple nights for us.  Poor Repo was tied up all day, I walked him in the morning early to do his business beyond the CG and a walk in the woods after dinner.  Pretty hot, upper 80'sF, at least 11 degrees cooler than Portola.

Here we planned on going and sure wish we could have...  Thursday morning I was in the ER (I am fine now). Jane had said, I am driving you or calling 911, damn she called 911! As she should have too. I sure did not want to go to a disease factory like an ER, lol. The doctor said he would  have normally admitted me right then, but... with convid, he asked what was my choice, when I said going home, he nodded that was the right choice. They pushed through an in the morning appointment for the next day with the cardiologist, that doesn't happen. A bunch of steroids and some meds and a few days later, it is like it never happened!

We would have enjoyed seeing everyone, looks like you guys had a good time.

Ed, you know the real danger of the day was that not making the camp allowed you to be talked about for hours.😄  Glad you are on the mend!  Hope to see you next time.

Had a great time.  Nice location and decent campground.  Seems to be a mecca for people who bought new large travel trailers and are learning to back them up.  Sometimes quite entertaining.  It was great to escape the pestilence of the valley and make new friends and see old ones.

I was able to camp next to Ethan and the great friends and family he brought with him.  This also allowed me first shot at his trade table and we managed to work some great deals. Mike (Giant Kid) got in some days before and was good company as always.  German and Rebecca (the hobby’s future as they are under 50) came and made some great deals with Ethan also.  I also made a good deal with Charlie for his 237 and a nice old box that will house a naked 228B that I already own and needs shelter.  Of course Duane and Repo were there and Duane was kind enough to show me his Boarde Bomb, a stove I am unlikely to come across in the wild.  Fortunately, Dave (Easyrizer) was there with his tools and got the Kamplite I got from Ethan going.   I also met Billy (Colebill) and found out all the people we both know from years ago.  A small world if we let it.

DECD7DFC-BD8B-4192-9731-D0835A13D3DB.jpeg I wished I would have walked more but I blamed my bad back for my laziness. I brought about 7 suitcase stoves and had on display but forgot to take a picture.  I, of course, brought the hobo expedition trailer and fixed some nice meals.  Weather was good and the bugs tolerable.   Here is my favorite picture of the hobo trailer lit up by a 237.

Glad to hear you dodged that bullet Ed!  Be Safe!

Krash and Duane,  thanks for he report!  I'm living vicariously through you guys!

Duane, great pics!  Wish I could have made it!

My consolation is that I did get a part for a special project, (more on that later) and; I may not have made it anyway - my back acted up starting on Friday, and was in full up spasms Saturday.  Spent the night with a TENS pad massaging my lower back, then started moving it up.  I'm still not all there, but nothing like Sat.  its about where it started on Friday, letting me know its there...  Sat I did not go on my walk,  I did Sun and this AM (walk only no running...)
