Closure also keeps people and lookyloos off roads so emergency vehicles don't have to watch for them.
Sounds like maybe there is a arsonist is busy down south.

Its a defacto closure for ALL the NF's in CA.
  • All campgrounds in NF's statewide are closed.
  • ALL ignition devices are banned in ALL CA NF's (Including stoves, lanterns etc.  )
So the ones that are not under full closure, might as well be for practical purposes.

Here I wanted to go bping a few nights.  Cold dinner I guess.  Just got a notice PG&E will have our power off for two days starting at 9PM tonight.   Because of winds now.

Wow, Erik, they're getting quite serious.  Seems best to just keep people out, period, for a while.

I can't help but wonder.  Are people that cause these fires out of stupidity held accountable?

Yes, there was a large fire last year caused by someone using a tannerite target for another gender reveal. He recieved several years probation and ordered to payback $8 million in damages. Unlikely to be able to pay the full amount of course, but what I understand is that the government can garnish 25% of wages right off the top.

The fires are tragic but lets not use them to make political comments.

Very tragic to see the destruction and loss people have endured and not to mention the loss of wildlife.  Lets see pandemic, hurricanes, unprecedented heat waves, crazy politics, civil unrest.  What next??

Campfires are also banned in Joshua Tree NP. Only Coleman Stoves for cooking!

We had very heavy smoke from California yesterday in SW UT. I could not see the mountain at all that sits behind town about 5 miles from my house.

Fighters on our local fire have been reduced by 200 yesterday, fires have been going for over three weeks here.
