I posted a few days ago about how I had found 442 stoves still for sale NIB from a company called Outdoor XL in the netherlands.  Well I took the plunge and bought one that night.  Note even three days later, this thing shows up on my porch! (I live in PA, so that is impressive shipping time!)

It’s in great shape, but was just pretty dusty.  The decal does seem different so I’m guessing this was the european model.  It is dated 11/16, I was NOT expecting that!  I was under the impression these went out of production around 2000.

A little tweaking of the legs to get it level and bending of the pot rest, some fuel and she fired right up!

Got one picture with it next to my 222B.  Finally got a mini stove to match my mini lantern!

Sounds fantastic! Now you need a 226 and a 400b to match them 😝.  How much was the total shipped?

Those 442's are great stoves. Yours is both interesting and uncommon.

Great to know they are real. That is a Euro stove. I have a used one. The fuel setting on the decal is different from the US models.

The silver 442 did end production for the US market around 2000. That is when the copper colored Exponent series came out. The copper ones were still 442 stoves, just a different color and name. Just marketing.

It is good to see that Coleman is still making them. I will have to order one to replace the used one I have. Thanks for testing the waters!

I do!  😂 I also need a 229!  I never thought I’d get the bug for these “backpacking” coleman models, but the first time I saw a 222, I knew I had to have one.  I think the total shipped was around $120 ish?  Honestly, not bad at all considering moderately used ones are going for about that much shipped on ebay!

No problem!  I was pleasantly surprised myself!  Yeah I figured it was just a difference in marketing decisions.  It’s interesting, the euro decal seems so plain.  The US decals always have walls of safety and warning text and step by step instructions on fueling, pumping and lighting.  This model literally just says: “Read instruction folder carefully before operating.”😂

But who knows if they’re still making them now, maybe they ceased production and this is just old stock?

That's a cool find. It always amazes me to see models being offered to other countries that we either can't get anymore, or were never offered to us to begin with.

It sure is!  It’s wild too, since they’re all still made here in the US, but just some were never released for sale here.  I think it’s way too late at this point, but if I could still find some store carrying a NIB old stock 229, I’d be all over it!
