Just wanted to share a recent score.  I'd been looking for a backpacking tent and this was on local craigslist.  The seller dated it to about 1998, so before Black Diamond acquired the Bibler company.  This is the first chance I've had to set it up to air out and wanted to re-seal the seams just for good measure.

Perfect one-person size and single wall makes it super light to carry.  Only thing missing is the owner's manual.  If anyone has one and would be willing to send me some scans, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Bibler makes (made?) excellent quality tents. One of the first companies to make a breathable, single-wall tent.

My only complaint with that design--I have one just like it but different brand--is the interior poles. Setting it up in rain or snow is guaranteed to get the inside good and wet. Some of the current single-walls have the poles on the outside, which means you keep the tent closed while setting up. Also keeps dirt and crud out.

Be aware that "breathable" is realative. Mine sweats badly in warm, wet weather. Different brand, but same material.
It's priceless until someone puts a price on it.

Nice score!  I hear they’re nice tents.  Never had the chance to check one out.

Still a good score.  I have a BD Hilight with the door on the side.

Are the seams taped? If not, buy some seam sealer and seal them.

You have it set up. Why do you need a manual?

BTW: That's easily a $400 tent--in 1998 dollars.

Good info, Timm.  Yes, I got ahead of the ball and bought some seam sealer, as these aren't taped.  Just finished brushing this afternoon, so I'll be all set by the time it cures this time tomorrow.

I almost picked up the same tent on my local craigslist a couple of weeks ago. Seemed like a solid tent, but by the time I got back from a camp trip another buyer had already made the purchase. Glad you were able to pick one up. I ended up going with an UL X-Mid 2p that is set to ship at the end of August. Waiting in anticipation so I can get out and try it.

Mine's a Nemo, model now discontinued. Like Duane's, it has the door on the sidewall w/small over hang so I can get some ventilation in a light rain.

Once again, these turn into a cold sauna on a warm, rainy night without some ventilation. Still a great little ultralight for high-elevations BPing, where the nights are mostly frosty.
