With the help of this forum I was able to source gaskets and o-rings for an NOS lantern. Here are a couple photos and hints for anyone doing the same.

The o-ring for the shut-off / metering valve is the Danco #60 1/4" O.D. x 1/8" I.D. x 1/16". I used a dental pick to get the old o-ring out. It's easiest to place the new o-ring on the valve needle with a drop of oil to get it installed.

I used a propane cap gasket to replace the original cork tank seal. I needed to open up the I.D. of the gasket to fit the valve assembly with an x-acto knife. A deep 8mm socket worked to get the tank gasket retaining nut loose. It's probably really a 5/16" nut.

For fun I painted the blue propane tank with red spray paint, similar in color to the lantern top. I like how the red color peeks through the body vent slots.

Here are some photos:

Thanks for sharing! I really want to get one of these coffee-maker-lanterns. Also, I like the red cylinder. It just “fits” better  🙂

Great info, thanks for sharing!

I have a question: What mantles are you using? I am using Coleman #21 and I have to adjust the valve to very low because if I turn the valve all the way open they burn outside the mantle.

Thanks

Same here on the mantles.  I have the same problem, especially with a full cylinder.

Thanks guys, I installed one of the two original mantles that came with the lantern. I did notice that the mantles inflated quite a bit under pressure.

so a bigger mantle would be more appropriated for these lanterns or buy a gas mantle. I was thinking of a #99 sized one

I'd say a #99 or Peerless 24a might be best.

When I tested my first one I used 21's but yes, I noticed those get over-driven easily.

These go pretty cheap. An NOS unit with all the goodies and an original box on eekpay is $35.

Shipping is $10 each additional one, after you pay $20 shipping for the first one. 😉😉😉
