So the common pattern here is to get the iconic b'day lantern....I dont really want a b'day lantern as lanterns are way more common than stoves, and cooking means more to me than light. I'm not very knowledgeable in models and years, what coleman or sears model stoves(1-3 burner) were an 8/71 stove???

That's hard to say. I pay attention to these things, but I don't have anything with that date for stoves, mainly because that was before the cases were stamped with a date. The fuel tank tabs were date stamped, but it's not something commonly stated by a seller or even a collector.
What was sold (in the U.S.) during that time is easier to say: 413G, 425E, 426D, 502, 5404 & 5409 LP Picnic stoves, and the 5410-700 green/mint propane stove. Only the first four were dated. For Sears, it was the blue/black stoves.
