Fred,

I’m no expert, but try to learn from others when I can, and prefer to err on the side of caution.  For example, I don’t need to pee on the electric fence myself to believe it will hurt.  ðŸ™‚

I fully appreciate every bit of information you and everyone else is able to provide. Luckily with all this help, I haven’t had a ER visit (yet) and haven’t burned the house down (yet).

Alcohol and a $20 bet in my teenage years proved the electric fence and pee does in fact hurt, even when highly intoxicated 😬🤣

Alright, wick came in today from the Wick Shoppe. On Miles site, it says to make/cut 4 two inch tails. Should I proceed to do that?

On the YouTube video earlier in this thread, the guy on the video says to leave 3/4 inch of the wick above the riser. Is this also correct?

Hopefully there’ll be light by the end of the day 🙏🏻

I went on ahead and cut a two inch strip on the bottom of the wick on both sides. Installed wick as per the YouTube video. Wick leveled. Filled fount with a pint of clear kerosene. Giving it 30-45 minutes to soak. No leaks in the fount. Will post results on Wickie Wednesday.

Forgot to add my final result. It runs great with low odor on startup and shutdown. Thanks to everyone who helped me with this! The chimney in the final picture is slightly leaning. I forgot to spin it before it got hot. It does stand straight otherwise. As others mentioned, it likes to drink 😁 Click image for larger version - Name: 677DB572-FBC0-4E8B-95E3-D752FF7485EF.jpeg, Views: 34, Size: 305.20 KB Click image for larger version - Name: 47660450-6123-4626-9AB5-6A867708DCC8.jpeg, Views: 35, Size: 165.49 KB

So nice, glad to see you got it going.   In addition to the beautiful light, they also throw some heat.
