Sent eight vents off to IPE back in early February and am starting to worry a bit. Last time it was only about three months to get them back. I know Covid is gonna delay things a bit + I requested several different colors. Anyone else have vents that recently came back? How long did it take?

I’m gonna say it’s because there’s eight, and in several different colors.
My friends don’t call me “Lantern/lampie Levi”
for nothin’,if they did call me that.

Looking for bday lanterns 8/38, 8/41,
10/25, and 8/07

The biggest lie I tell myself is

A few people here sent in many vents to be redone about a month ago, maybe yours will get swept up in this latest batch??

Hmmm,  I have 4 or 5  I was planning to send.  Last time (a few years ago) it took a couple months but well worth the wait - amazing work.  I had 4 colors - Sea Foam, Red,  Green, and Blue for a custom. This time will be just green.

I'm considering having a couple of vents acted by IPE; however I could find nothing on their Web site section on products and services  about lantern vents. Who is "Jeff" and how does one contact him? Previous post above says to contact "Jeff" via FB, but I don't do FB.
Does Jeff have an email address?
Thanks for any info.

I asked Jeff once and he said Fall would be the best time to send in vents. This is a small sideline for him, he's got to squeeze these random odd jobs in between large runs of commercial porcelain projects.

Natures warning sign when a business is still accepting orders and then not delivering within a reasonable time. A lot of people do hobby art porcelain/enamel  things. One might check around for pottery shops and similar to check into a DIY solution. You sand blast and coat the vent, and the shop fires it.

Much more easily said than done.  Yes, there are lots of ceramic shops with kilns, but enameling vents is a much more exacting process.  That's why there are so few places that can do it.  IPE does great work, but sometimes their turnaround time is L-O-N-G.  I once waited 17 months, while my last order with 8 vents only took about 3 months.  It's worth the wait...

I’ll also warn it seems easier than it is.  I was told to not sandblast vents as it causes problems down the road when refinishing them.  That may only be applicable to vents that were stripped for nickel plating though.  Cant remember if it also applies to porcelain.

I sent one in at the beginning of summer and got it back in about 5 weeks with flawless work done. I wouldn't hesitate to send something else in.

Here's something else about IPE; doing vents for us is not their primary business; as I understand, they fit them in as they can.
