I pretty much messed up my life. This brings back memories for me. I wasn't happy with what I had at the time, including my wife, and I realize now how stupid that was. After our separation I went into a decadent lifestyle and gradually spiralled downward into depression. I got out the other side okay and my life now is good again. I was about 30 years old when my in-laws neighbors had a claro walnut tree cut down. The main log was about the size of the the log in the video, 36" diameter at the base. They tried to sell the logs for $1200 for a long time. They finally told me I could have the logs for the cost of cutting the tree down, $400. I had it logged into lumber by a friend of mine with a band saw mill. I had about 1000 board feet of claro walnut after I salvaged every log that was big enough to cut. One of the things I built out of that was a canopy bed, arched canopy, Shaker design. The beauty of the wood made the statement. My wife bought yards of sheer light blue satin and made the canopy for it. We slept with each other under that canopy for about 20 years. Watching this log being milled into lumber brings back memories.

I could watch a sawmill run all day! When I was younger my father had a commercial circle sawmill for a few years, then this past winter we built a band sawmill to play with. Took this picture this morning.
