Who uses amber globes?

I picked up a ratty 228F with an amber globe. I like it, but it seems to throw much less light than a clear globe. Much easier on the eyes though.

Do they really attract less bugs? I'm thinking this may be my table lantern.

For that reason alone is why I want a couple amber globes in my collection. Just never ordered any and I can't seem to find any in the wild around here.

Way less bugs and a bit less light. Just something about the way they look in the daylight I enjoy. Good for lifting our army tent at night. Although, frosted is another great choice.

I like them. Red ones are pretty cool, too.

I like them also. I have picked up a few 220 F's, like I really need another one, for 15 bucks each just for the globe!

Less bugs with amber, but I see bright clear globes killing lots more bugs as a feature!

I like amber globes. It's nice to have some options when burning a lantern. Now you need a red one.

I have quite a few amber globes, and they do look cool as well, but my STR style globes perform better at breaking the glare without reducing light output.

Well, ain't this place a geographical oddity-two weeks from everywhere!

Speaking of different globes. Why can i not find a red one?
No matter how ugly, old stuff works the best.

Well, no one's making them anymore, and the ones that are left are being kept by their owners.  Should you find  anyone with a USA made red globe, don't be surprised to pay $100 or more.
