Well another mail call today, found a BIN on eBay and pulled the trigger, now I have a couple questions for you the most knowledgeable lantern people.

How to date this? I haven't found any markings or stamping in the fount, also no letter on fiber wheel and found a “C” on the mixing chamber.

Mica chimney is in great condition except for a lost panel and I would like to know if can get the panel replaced by someone, I would like to keep it in the conditions as is.

Q99 generator is plugged no air could pass with my T pump through so I replaced with another Q99 I had serviced and inserted a bunch of copper strings inside and is the one burning.

A real expert will be along soon with details. Does it have a patent date on the burner air tube? If so, then it should be after 1919. I just found one last month. A pic of the vent will help. Does it have tabs on the bottom of the vent or not? Does it have a baffle plate? Yours is a lot nicer than mine. Great pickup.

That looks a lot like mine, except better. I did a lot of reading here and in the book and couldn't find anything to pick a specific date. If I'm correct, the fiber wheels start being stamped in 1921. I think it was in the book that the baffle plate started in 1920. I think the unmarked fount was before 1922 also. I think the tabbed vents were earlier, so these are later. From what I could piece together, late 1919-1920.

Hopefully someone will confirm or correct me so we both have a better idea.

Nice lantern ðŸ‘ I believe Andy has you pretty close on the date from my findings. The cutout for the funnel is another clue that puts it in his date range.

Late 1921.  Baffle plate started in 1922, and shows the cut for the funnel/pump.  Mine lacks this cutout,  so that kinda jumped out at me.  Closed nut and unmarked vent also ran through 1921.

Nice find Pancho.

Thanks guys for the info guys.

@Flyboyfwa probably I overpaid for this one. Was a BIN for $49 + $12 shipping and don’t forget those TAX on used merchandise. I still think it was a great buy, this and my 427 are awesome lanterns and I still need to bring my 327 find from Mexico. I will show you guys some more goodies tomorrow 😉

When I found mine it was in sad shape. It was so rusty and dirty you couldn't tell what it was other than a 327. I found mine in the wild about an hour from me. Some of the features in the pics pointed early so I took a chance. I paid a lot less hoping it would be something interesting but I think you did good.

Mine is very dimm and I’ll be switching the Q99 for a R55 coming in the mail probably tomorrow, Saturday or Monday. Was trying to clean the pick fuel tube but the valve didn’t wanted to cooperate so I left everything as it was.

I’m getting the itch for these old fellas and I think I’m doing good and this is my third (427 CQ, 327 CQ and air-o-lantern) and not my last.  I am also trying to complete my 242 lineup and I need to find a 242 and 242k for now but not in a hurry, deals come slow 😉

Damn is that ever a nice lantern you got there! I just scored another 327 Canadian for dirt cheap at an antique store the other day. Besides the 335 and 200 series, this is one of my favourite models! Can't believe how well made they are 🙂

I like quicklites. If I could only have one double mantle it would be a quicklite with a big hat... Kind of narrows it down ðŸ˜‰
