Figured I'd give this another go. Anyone else have an Air-O lantern with and brass frame rest like this?

That's bizarre on its own, but on a lantern with that filler plug and frame? WOW
Send a message to Terry Marsh. If anyone would know of others in existence it's him.

Nickel-plated brass, not aluminum. The density should give it away. If that's not enough, try a drop of fairly strong lye solution on part of the inside you can't see. Aluminum will react strongly, nickel-plated brass not at all.
It's priceless until someone puts a price on it.

Thank you! Tried it out, and you are correct. It is brass. Edited post. Still curious if any more folks have one. I thought the frame rests on Air-O's were exclusively steel.

I wish mine was brass.  It's the only original part on mine that I can't bring back to almost new.

Good deal!

My very early Air-O QL has a steel collar with almost no plating left. I'll have to fix that some day. Yours is exceptional!

Two Air-O's with steel rests

One..transition? With nonferrous rest, swing away door in the frame (like yours) and a circular indentation on the bottom of the fount

Just went out to the garage to check.  Both the Air-O-Lantern and the Air-O-Lamptern  have steel.
