Messing with a just-about-to-be-thrown-out Akron lamp yesterday/last night.  The pricker lever shaft got broken off a few days ago while trying to straighten it out so the packing would prevent a leak there.  I soldered over the area the packing nut for it screwed into so I could run the lamp.  The pricker rod sets too high now and won't allow the genny to screw into place so I removed it, naked flame had some yellow while burning last night without mantles.  Ever look to see if a R55 could be modified or adapted to a Akron genny?
I'm thinking I need to either cut the pricker rod down a tiny bit or place some brass mesh on its place to make the flame blue.

Should work fine as long as it doesn't get too short after you cut the flare off.  Some Loctite on the threads to get it to set tight in the right orientation and you'd be set.

Preheated longer this AM, ran fine, had to put some anti-sieze on the genny threads as it was leaking there.  Got to thinking(just a little), that the 'S' genny has no pricker.  Emptied the fuel, shelved it with the rest.

I recall reading Akron instructions where they suggest soap to lube the generator threads, I use an exotic anti seize.

Thank you!

I frighten easily!

My current shade is Coleman!!

To me a lamp without a shade is creepy!
