Time to get started planning this years get together. Made reservation yesterday for the 17,&18 at Ramsey Lake. Got the 6 in the center so we get the pavilion. This is open to all, it is a nice park plenty of shade nice sites with electric and water  scattered around. They only want one contact person so if you are planning to attend just post here and I will take care of your reservation then when you get there just pick your spot and go to office and pay. Early arrivals are no problem.
As we get closer we can start planning meals.
Hope to see old friends and some and make some new.

As of right now, I am planning on driving Pat and Jerry down.  I do enjoy this gathering.  I will miss seeing Paisley.  As always, it would be great if we could have the drive-through site so I don't have to try and back in the trailer with mobility carts.
Thanks for making this possible Jay.

OK, I'm a little confused.
What does her booking a cottage have to do with YOU not attending ?

Patty said she would make a batch of spaghetti and meatballs for dinner Sat. so we would need some salad, bread and butter.
I had a hog butchered so I have a ton of fresh sausage I can bring for a breakfast Saturday if someone can bring some eggs.
As always I'm sure we will do a couple dutch oven cobblers for desert. (Mike & Jim C. hint hint).

Late to the party again, sorry! This trip will be the first with my pretty half (we usually call her Dainne) tagging along and we hope to arrive Thursday afternoon. My brother James and his son Michael will arrive after dinner on Friday or early Saturday morning.

As Jay mentioned, we'll be grilling some sort of sausages for a Friday group dinner. We usually get them from our local butcher and hoping they have enough kielbasa style on hand but might end up with a mix (brats/Italian/polish). We'll have buns and cheese either way and hope it doesn't ruin Saturday's lunch plans! (we'll probably skip sat lunch but ready to help with whatever).

PS - I'm not planning on doing a Dutch Oven dessert this time, I think the big dogs already have that covered nicely!

I am bringing 2-3 bags of charcoal my wife got for cheap when Shop n Save went out of business.  It burns.I am also bringing the large Weber charcoal starter, and lighter fluid, lid trivet, lid lifter, liners.

Everyone: This is a good place to get into Dutch/Camp oven cooking if you want to learn.  The first thing I used was a dutch (did not have a camp) oven with a round gridle that fit in the opening.  Mike made due and taught me how to use even that.  It worked. There is a Rual King nearby so you can get a sorta good price on a camp oven there.  I don't know if Wal-Mart has them.  We use disposable foil liners, so you do not have to worry about seasoning the oven at this time.  If you want to throw a "quick" seasoning on:  1) Heat iron to 200, wipe on Crisco, use a blue shop paper towel to wipe off excess  2) Heat to 300, 15 minutes, wipe again 3) heat to 400 2 hours.  Let cool repeat 3 times.  Pan or oven should be upside down in oven.

My wife and I had a great time as well. It was good to see everyone. Yes the food was great and so were you all. But unfortunately for us the drive back home was a disaster.  We got just north of Clinton Illinois on Rt. 51 when I looked in the rearview mirror and saw the camper leaning to the right.  Got out and low and behold the front wheel was gone along with brake drum, pads, and bearings. The other wheel( DUAL AXLE) was flat. Spent two hours on the side of road while we got a spare aired up. Let the camper at the dealership that had the wrecker. Now to look for new tires, wheels. We had new brakes and bearings put on it last October. O well that's life. We got home safe sound anyway! Click image for larger version - Name: Resizer_15584915030990.jpg, Views: 64, Size: 50.83 KB

Scott - Strange thing, when looking at your camper you mentioned the work on the brakes/bearings and I took a long look at the tires and remember that they looked fine to me. Now I'm reminded of my own research into trailer tires for mine and my neighbors utility trailers and remember seeing a lot of videos (youtube) on full time RV'ers switching from the usual trailer rated tires to quality "LT" or light truck rated tires.I realize this is unlikely to be the cause of your issue but something to check out (search "china bomb tires").

"Not the proper tires" could have caused a rollover.  I am so glad you guys are okay.  On the bright side, I (and by that I mean my wife) ordered that 14" deep Lodge Dutch camp oven.  It is on the way.  It was on sale, so less than 90 bucks.  I saw that Wal-Mart raised prices on camping stuff after Memorial Day.  So we jumped on that.

We had new brakes and bearings put it last October before heading out to DC to visit son and DIL.  Had no problems. Stored it November 1 until first Saturday in April. The company that put those on forget go tell me to return so the could check out the bearings and repack them.  He stated that's for the damage to the bearing. Overheated  so tomorrow I'm heading down to Clinton to pickup the camper and drop it off at Temtpe trailer repair in Bloomington.

Jim I'm glad you got your DO.  I know you were excited about getting one.
