800 for a red Ted ?
600 for a 228B (220B) ?
might be a good time to sell
I have all three of those models in as good or better condition and have no plans to sell them but these prices make me wonder.

I saw two Christmas lanterns with way high pricing over the weekend as well as that ted. I've got three teds and together they didn't cost that much.

I bought my Red Ted off ebay years ago for $75 and thought that was high. Glad I pulled the trigger now. I must have 6 Christmas lanterns out in the shed. Might have to dust a couple of them off and see what they fetch.

Every time I see a ridiculous price for a lantern on the bay, I know instantly that it's from Japan. I'm usually right. I don't have a Ted, but I have a shelving unit full of Christmas lanterns and 202's. 😁

I messaged a UK seller over his "rare" stove that was missing parts, wrong screws, he said it was rare, I pointed out that three had sold in the recent week, he said there weren't any listed when he listed his on the bay.  I considered rare as a few pop up in a year maybe.

The No. 2 stove that sold for $710 made me really think whether I need all these black suitcase stoves....

I’m surprised there aren’t 5 listed now hoping to glom onto the losing bidder.

I also wonder whether the seller ever got paid?

Many of the high dollar opening bid items on the bay are Japanese sellers! Once you get above an opening bid of 500$ you will see the trend.

I frighten easily!

My current shade is Coleman!!

To me a lamp without a shade is creepy!

Just wait for your desired lantern or stove to come along in the wild. I never thought I'd find so much as see in person an infrared lantern and yet I picked one up fully intact.

I never see anything in the wild.  I would pay a commission to anyone who would be willing to get those on my list.

You have to be diligent in your hunting. I've only been collecting for a few years and have found nearly everything on my list without spend a lot of money. You have to hit garage sales, estate sales, flea markets, antique stores. Let other know that your a collector too. I've already missed 3 goldbond 200a lanterns during my collecting and that's a big one on my list, mainly because a have a yellow bus.
