Headed out tomorrow morning for the Jamboree at Summit Bechtel Reserve in Glen Jean, WV.  First time we have hosted a World Jambo in the USA since 1967.  I am working on the recycling team.  Participants arrive on Monday, the 22nd.

I am fortunate that it's only a 3 1/2 hour drive from my home.  We are expecting 45,000 Scouts and 8,000 staff from 150+ countries around the globe.

On my small team of 19, I have people from 5 US states and Chile, Denmark, Ecuador, Italy, Sweden, and UK.

Anybody else going?

See you there.

I'll be up at some point with my son and nephew.
I went as a scout in 93, did pottery demos during the first one at Summit Bechtel reserve and took my son 2 years ago, he was just finishing cub scouts. Can't miss the opportunity to go to a world jamboree, especially since it only 2 hours for me.

How cool, enjoy your trip. My oldest son and I are doing his A.O.L. Council camp next week. Those big camps have always intrigued me, seeing the pictures in Boy’s Life

Whew!  Back from the Jamboree this morning about 11:00.  Fortunately, the Summit is only a 3.5 hour drive for me.  The Jamboree was incredible.  All of the 9,000 volunteers worked their *%&$% off to provide an incredible experience for the participants.  Great shows featuring Lebo M singing "Circe of Life" from Lion King, the Pentatonix, and Recycled Percussion.  If you have never seen Recycled Percussion, search for them on YouTube.  Just watching them perform was exhausting!!

Hard to describe the experience overall, but one big, high energy party (no alcohol) with activities like zip lines, archery, rifle, pistol, shotgun shooting, rock climbing, whitewater rafting, ropes courses, SCUBA diving, BMX, skate park, lots of international displays and food tents, all shared with 33,000 Scouts from across the globe.

I'll post some pics as I have tme over next week or so.  I just missed 2.5 weeks of work and gotta miss 3 days next week to move our son's stuff to DC so that he can start his post-college first job.

Here is a link to a Flickr album with more pics than I could possibly post.  Pics show all the way from pre-Jamboree and set-up through closing show with the Pentatonix.
