Picked up a 242 no letter at a thrift store today. Pump has no air stem, is this correct?

I think the check valve needs cleaned. Time to finally buy a removal tool.

Nice find!  If that vent is as good as it looks, you might wan to strap on a "user" vent too...

if I can get it going. May need a better cleaning, but I’m thinking the check valve needs cleaned, which scares the potatoes out of me. It’s in such food shape, don’t want to mess it up.

Does not have a regular check valve. "The Tool" will not work as designed. Still, get The Tool, you will need it someday.

The good news, most of em come out with a Big Screwdriver.

It uses a spring loaded pip to seal NRV.  Pretty sure OCP have the pips or you can make one.

More good news, they are more desirable than a 242 with an air stem. You done good.
