I am in need of a 236 valve stem with the splined end.  My research project question is, is the 237 valve stem itself the same thing?  And for that matter, the 635 or 639 stem?

From the catalogs, the 236 valve stem assembly has a part number of 236-653 and the 237 valve stem assembly has a part number of 237-653.  A valve stem assembly includes the valve stem, packing, compression rings and nut, valve wheel and direction disc.  The direction disc may be the only difference between these two assemblies or it may not.

I think the 236 I bought from the classifieds here a while back has a 220 valve stem in it . It’s shorter and has  black wheel . I was going swap it out but it works fine so I left it alone. Maybe an option .

Hi Dan - Cast valve body or billet?  I think the valve stems are different between US and Can.

Cast, looks like what I'd call a "standard" 237 shape.  Cast but square shaped.  And it's a Mexican 236.
