Kind of looks like a 3 and a 9. Looks like it'll clean up good to me.

Thx!

It's definitely a 6 then 3, (unless the got the 9 stamped upside down)

I used a magnet - the only things magnetic on this lantern is the bail, and the bottom.  Not even the burner bottom tray.

I also cleaned the vent - VERY little heat damage and the underside was cleaner than the top, with NO soot - None!

I tried the pump and with just a little stroking it started pumping, and the cap is holding pressure.

NO scent of fuel whatsoever...

The genny looks barely used.

It came out of a Goodwill in Seattle, WA.  so that would explain the look of being stored in a humid area...

Another arrived today (Done for a bit...)  A really nice 228.  This one should require no more than fuel and mantles:

Nice finds!

Its deathly slow here.  a few sales posted but nothing I'l go out to see.  I did get some stuff last weekend, includig a 9" square skillet apparently by Wagner but unmarked.  as to brand.  other things sort of of interest for this forum included an old box of Hoppes patches (full for once!), an empty Winchester Ammo Box, a NOS Army angle Flashlight, and a Mini MAg light.

This was after a 13 week Hiatus...

Slow going this year, and what few sales I see are generally not worth even getting into the car.
The sometimes you just get lucky!   Picked this black smith post vise up for $25 at a yard sale spotted on the way to the hardware store for sprinkler heads:

Its not huge, 4" jaws, but appears to be hand forged. No names in any of the usual places.

Not a Yard sale - But an Eprey find - I paid way more than I wanted to, but way less than the "going rate" so I did fair.

Its a Coleman 519 radiant heater, 3000 BTU, pretty compact, runs off White gas. so I can now go with NO propane unless there are fire restrictions and I need a BBQ...

It uses the 24 oz. fount and will run 5-7 hours per Coleman.  Made only in Canada, and only for about 5 years. this one is from '85

So I understand!

I'm dealing with general cleanup and minor "battle damage" now.
  • The tip of the genny had a slight bend, so I think between that and the dinged up reflector edge, it was dropped.  That bend came out easy.
  • The pump leather needed oil...
  • Seems to be holding pressure OK with no leaks, now that it makes pressure.
  • I'm working the dinged reflector edge with a 12 Ga insulated wire as a backer and a tint plastic mallet
  • I'll need to work some of the convex at the edge...

That's a cool heater, Outlaw!

I picked up this AIDA today off of the marketplace.  It isn't much to look at, but I got it for a very reasonable sum.  I think it'll clean up well.  We'll see.

Well, things are picking up and a few adds popped up;  Most had "Masks required" (probably prompted by the resurgence of verified C-19 cases) and last W/E I sorted out this "Safety First" process -

"Drive By" first:
  • is it crowded? is everyone actually wearing masks properly (I see dumkofs covering the mouth but not the nose WAY too much...)
  • is there anything worth getting out of the rig to see?
  • If all above is OK - Mask up and have gloves ready. Use "sterile" handling - Gloves for the items I touch - pull off glove to get my wallet if needed...
  • If a crowd comes in, back off and if necessary, leave.
  • If they refuse to mask up, leave immediately.

It seemed to work today, and EVERYONE was masked up today

4 stops where I got out of the rig, several I did not...

This was what I got: A couple of items (Like the Photo Album) just get set aside a week or so before handling with bare hands... (can't reasonably be cleaned)

Stop 1: A Taiwan knock off of the Coleman Stove/Cooler stand - this one has the angle cross bars so is actually the better version! $2:

YS 1 Stand.jpg

Stop 2: Clamp city. I left most bu the (Jorgensen/Pony) deeps and the KantTwist I cherry picked. these bring me up to 7 including the bench mount here. Also a wire "wheel" for a drill. $15 for these, but the KantTwist made it worth it)

YS2 Clamps, WW.jpg

Stop 3: $10 all!

An Adlake wickie lantern (less the burner and glass), but what is there is in great shape!, plus another Ammo box. - Ammo cans are a little like clamps, if cheap enough they come home. They stack well and are just handy...

YS3b Box & Adlake.jpg

A Ben person 25 lb re-curve bow and a fire log grabbing tool.

YS3 Ben Pearson.jpg     YS3 Fire log tool.jpg

A Coleman 220E - I usually pass on green 2 mantle lanterns, but it was cherry, had the globe, and (most of) the box, even the original "red tag" (in the box) Jan 56 date.

YS3a 220e 56.jpg

And lastly at stop 4 - An old photo album with the think cardboard pages with openings for the photos (self matting) - this for SWMBO's old pic collection; A ball pump (these can be converted to pump the old lanterns and stoves that have detached pumps), and a couple of wrenches (Herbrand and TBD post de-rusting) $3.50 all

I hear ya there.  My county here in Ohio is now considered "HOT", so I'm electing to skip the flea again for the foreseeable future.

I did however manage a lucky score from an antique store this week.

Instant collection of Lamps.  My first foray into Lamps for that matter. How'd I do?  😃

Looks like a CQ, Model 118?, and I think a Model A.

Almost nothing last week (a couple of Pyrex pieces, nothing special)  Local was dead but I had to go out of town and so went out of my usual territory.

Only the last stop - an Estate sale clean-out mostly, had anything...

Everyone was masked everywhere, and one estate sale was taking forehead temps as well... (the lady in front of me refused to let them, and was denied entrance - she kept asking them to use it somewhere else other than her forehead...

anyway for $10 I got:

Two small oil cans, a spare fuel can made in West Germany, and a small "Just Right" safety can with Patents pending, so I'm assuming its an early production model?

ES1 JustRighr can Oilers.jpg

And A bunch of Brass/bronze parts - even the hasp is bronze! the oarlock pockets are cool.
DS2 brass.jpg

And lastly an old cigar bot full of fasteners mostly - lots of brass which was excuse enough, but I'm hoping a couple of 12-24 Truss head screws I need for the 3 burner KampKook may be in there.   The box is old enough that it is all wood, and someone added wood dividers, so cool in its own right - I'll see if Greze-Off can cut the gunk, without ruining the art...

Popped over to a nearby Estate Sale and picked these up for $22:

1945 Canteen, Cup, and cover (I'm pretty sure the cover is period the ink on the back is faded away....)

Canteen.jpg

The cover is the nicest one I've see in ages!

The canteen is marked A.G.M Co  - that may be American Gas Machine Co? (getting that verified)

The cup is R.M.CO.

A 1943 M6 periscope the owner said was for tanks, and all the google hits I get say for the Sherman tank but I've not found an "official" link...  Optics are clear and I rarely see these with undamaged optics...

Periscope 1.jpg

Periscope 1a.jpg

Periscope 2 tag.jpg

And a Folding Solid fuel stove with one fuel tablet still in the original foil. It uses trioxane solid fuel tablets, which are still available.

Thanks Jason.  I'm not seeing any ink inside.  the US is there clear enough if a bit faint, and only some traces of ink on the back.  I finally found some pics that seem to corroborate the periscope is for a Sherman.   It's definitely 1943.  Seeing how these are exposed,  I can see where these would be considered a "consumable" and likely spares inside the tanks, as well as the supply lines...
