We are pleased to announce the second annual True North New England gathering. We had such an overwhelming positive response from last year’s event, we’ve decided to host it again. This will be a 3 day family event. It will be posted on the CCF and the True North forums as well as Facebook pages also. It will be a group effort but Karen and I will be hosting it at our home. We are in Whately Massachusetts which is in the middle of the state right off Route 91. It's very easy to get to. We have about 4 acres of very flat, mowed grass in the middle of quiet farm country. This will be a rain or shine event. If we have in-climate weather, we can move light-ups and food lines inside my building which is filled with antique engines, cars, tractors and other collections. We can easily accommodate 100+ camping folks from tenters to Rvs. we have a large fire pit that will be lit each night if wanted. I can also have a couple friends on hand to run some hit n miss engines.
Friday and Saturday evening dinners and Sunday breakfast will be pot luck dishes. All other meals will be on our own. This worked well last year and it took the load off one person doing all the cooking. If you forget some food, there are multiple local farm stands and a large grocery store about 10 minutes away. We have 2 refrigerators in the barn that will be available to store cold dishes to help with warm July temps. Karen and I built an outdoor sink last year for dishwashing duties.
In addition to the porta potties we will be renting, the bathroom in the barn has a sink, toilet, and hot shower for all to use.
Pets are welcome but must be leashed and picked up after.
One thing we have little of is shade so bring your own. Most folks camping won’t have shade till late in the afternoon.
This will be a 3 day event and early birds are welcome, just let me know. It's a nice area with lots of other local activities available. On the Flyer, is other info like local interests and hotels nearby if you can't camp.

This year we are looking to add a couple fun activities. Curt and Angie were planning a 200A field strip challenge during the 2017 Convention that unfortunately didn’t happen. We are planning to make this an event and it should be a lot of fun. We may also have a scavenger hunt. Prizes will be awarded.
Below is more info. If you have any questions PM me. Thanks. Steve.

I'm glad to see this event coming around again, we had a really good time this year. If you're anywhere in New England you owe it to yourself to make the trip.

While it is certainly nice to find what you collect, in reality you must collect what you find.

Hello all, a month away now! It’s coming up so fast. I’ve been getting many confirmations of attendees through the forums and emails. It should be well attended again.
I spoke with Master Chef Jon Bushaw and he unfortunately has another function and won’t be able to attend this year so plan your pot luck dishes accordingly.
Move decided to omit the two tents we used last year and move the tables and chairs into the end of the barn. This should move everyone a little closer together and it’s one less thing for me to worry about.
looking forward to seeing everyone again !

Hard to believe we're less than a week away. Karen and I have been very busy lately with a few projects and final preparations for the gathering. For those arriving Thursday, If you were here last year, and know what spot you want, go ahead and set up. If you are a new attendee, please ask someone before you set up. I have to work on Thursday but I'll be home at 3:30.
The 2 person 200A field-strip Challenge is on with prizes to be awarded! Please bring a working 200A and whatever tools you need to take it apart. You wont need to take out the check valve or the tip cleaner assembly but the rest needs to be disassembled. I will supply each contestant with a new mantle.
The for cast looks decent for the weekend but very hot. Please please bring a shade tent and plenty of liquids to hydrate. We have a nearby town swimming pond available to our guests if wanted.
For any other questions, please pm me or refer to the top post. Thanks everyone!

I'll be there around 6 p.m. on Friday and stay until Sunday and quick question What people usually bring for the potluck dinner( I never done this before ). Do we bring already cooked food or bring uncooked food and cook or grill on the spot. What time potluck dinner usually starts?
Thank you Steve. See you guys soon.

Do whatever works best for you. I'll be cooking my nearly famous dutch oven BBQ, similar to what I did here:

I've got a bigger dutch oven now... 😉

Like Curt said, whatever method works for you. There will be a good mix of hot and cool dishes I’m sure. The dinners are between 6-6:30.
Yes, Ed it’s going to be a hot one. Ice is available right up the street. I also bought a small inflatable pool and a big sprinkler so folks can cool down.

I'm a little sad that we have to leave on Saturday at noon but I will for sure pack swim trunks. I can virtually assure you I'll be in that inflatable pool on Friday afternoon/evening no matter what my wife says. (I'm sorry dear...)
