Thanks to my friend HV @MrAlexxx
This nice 200A Black Band is now up and running here in Denmark.

After a general overhaul - it now runs rock stable with no flickering. The cage was rusted beyond polishing up, so I was wondering whether to paint it in a darker tone or silver,  but settled for this VHT silver. I kinda like the result - especially when lit. The mantel is just a cheap Golden Anchor - but as longs as it runs this fine on the original porcelain flame spreader- I’ll keep it there.

Greetings Harder. Nice Blackband 200. I think it turned out very well indeed. The decal is nice and she’s burning great. I ended up painting a 1966 200 cage Silver that was beyond cleaning and I’m happy with it. Sometimes you have to do that.

Another saved! Looks great and the VHT paint looks good too. I like the black band, was it used on some earlier lanterns? I have a 200A 11/58.

Looking for Bday lanterns, 10/83, 11/84 and 10/2011.

@12057dave
thanks!
@Kgam1020
Black bands were generally made from around 2/52 - (some have seen them at Dec 1951) to about April or May 1953.

Well - started with a dunk test while cleaning the fount a couple of days ago with no bubbles. Had it running today for a good burn in - noticed one tiiiny drop at a tiiiny rust spot.

Poked it with a screwdriver which went through - I can solder it - but the paint is gonna be ruined 😖.

(I am on the lookout for another similar fount now 😇)

That sucked and not in a good way! We'll make it right.

HV @MrAlexxx - would be nice to keep it running.
I wonder if a “standard” red fount from the 50’ies with a change of decal to match the black band would work?

Any 200a fount will work. Finding one in the black band range may be a difficult hunt... Happens to the best of them. I've had several pinholed and cracked Founts just this past couple months...

I was just going to say the same thing Toby did. To be a "correct" BB you need a fount in the right date range. The hunt starts...lol  🙂

I've got one, 4-53 but it too looks risky. Not through yet though. But funny thing, most of them from that vintage are risky unless they received exceptional care.

I went over the fount again - found another hole - try and compare it with the last pic above —> That tiny spot some 2 inches to the left, which is seen here at the bottom of the (for some odd reason) tilted pic - Yup, that is a hole as well. No wonder it tricked me from the beginning.  Click image for larger version - Name: 97762127-6810-4E04-9A33-E488BB96CCA8.jpeg, Views: 36, Size: 240.44 KB

that fount is trash. I sent you an ebay link for a new one-very cheap. I would be all over it.

Have asked seller if he’ll send to Denmark - and to which price.

Harder,
most of the 50's vintage are rusted through unless they received exceptional care during the past 70 years.
Often the seller does not know, and often the rust will plug a pinhole, kind of like aluma-seal in your radiator.
You might ask Cigar Mike, our host, if he has anything.
I have a spare here but it is questionable too.
