I have an 11/50 200, the base rest is model 200 and made in USA.  It is not steel.
I have a 3/59 200A, the base rest is model 200A and made in USA.  It is steel.

So, the questions are"
(1) Was the model 200 fitted with an aluminum(?) base rest?
(2) Has someone swapped out the base rest on my 59 200A?

I'll have to check mine... The 200 may be brass with a plating? I'm surprised the 59 is steel... I figured it would've been aluminum. I'll try to run to the shop after lunch and check.

An original 59 should be aluminum. Christmas, black bands and silver bands in 1953ish were the only steel ones.
The 200 models including the Christmas 200’s should be nickel plated brass.

Yep. Nickel plated brass for the11/'50 200, unpainted aluminum for the '59.
It's priceless until someone puts a price on it.

On checking, my Christmas lanterns and Black Bands are steel, and I also found a 6/54 that is steel.  Confusing.

Christmas 200s.  That's a new one on me.  I have two Christmas, and they both say 200A on the collar.

The last couple months of production Coleman didn’t nickel plate the brass fount of the US 200. It was painted green. I think the rest of the lantern was exactly the same. When Coleman switch to a green painted steel fount it became the 200A. Hopefully the experts will correct me if I’m wrong.

doesn't sound right. but never say never. If they found some old steel frame rests they would have used them. My 8-54 is aluminum, last steel band was 1953. Many lanterns were repaired at official Coleman repair stations-they could have used a steel part.

Seems like for every rule there are exceptions.  Think late Friday afternoon - no parts in the parts bin - gotta get 10 more off the line before 5 - grab whatever works from the old misc parts bin.....
