66 Indian creek loop
Poking round the local flea where I find lanterns for parts and globes and thought no luck this time, looked up and spotted a dusty Mil-Spec. Cheap enough, all quads were good, 84 SMP. Price was worth the glass alone so it followed me home. After a soap and water clean up it appears it has'nt been run much. The gen looked real clean inside and just a little soot on the burner. Pulled it down to clean f/a tube and found teflon tape on the valve so I thought, well some PO could'nt handle the flame up and tried to fix it. Any way,, after some fresh fuel, a new Light house mantle, a little excitment but it settled right down to a loud roar like it's supposed to. At another place, the kind with rusty old shovels and farm tools found a corner  with a few lanterns. At first it looked like the usual 220 Js and the like. Had to dig past the fishing poles and hip waders to get at some tall green vents. Don't really need another E so I keep digging and found this 220 C marked 10/45 with a green straight line globe. After soap and water washing it's a lot cleaner than it looked.  fresh fuel and fired right up. It was clocked all wrong so it got a full fettle. Now it runs real good 0618201652-00.jpg  0618201653-00.jpg  0619201734-00.jpg

Thanks, I need to grab me some of those. I run the 525s on my big Kero burners with great success. I wish they made a 21 equivalent in the same weave pattern. They seem tough and bright.

Seems I read on this forum that 425s are a 21 equivalent

No problem Toby,,I buy them at a Menonite store. They use them on LP lighting, but they are cheap and make good test mantles.
