Nice find! I love a nice clean E like that. My favorite decals too. Arguably the most iconic lantern they ever made.

Thanks! These seem relatively easy to find in nice shape which is surprising considering their age but I’m a new collector and I was pretty excited to find a nice one at a fair price.

It's nice to find those with a perfect decal too. If I remember correctly, the '59 220E is the only E to have both the red letter globe and the pump tube cap with the two fasteners.

Excellent find. That E and all it’s goodies look great!

I ended up finding mine in similar condition with box and papers, but with a 426B stove pamphlet inside. Wish I found the stove too!

Nice one Don, I got a 3-59 228E in mint condition last fall from a friend. No box or other stuff, but I got it for the price of a China globe. I have a 55 220E as well that is in real nice shape too.

Mine has the red globe with reg mark only and pump cap screws. I think the first pump clip was in 1960. Red globe may have started in 1958 sometime. Green Sunshine was 46-58.

There's not many lanterns that look nicer than a clean 220E or 228E.

It's even better with such a nice box and paperwork. That's definitely a 1950s time capsule.

Great find.

That’s a nice score. Looks like a really clean lantern and the box and papers look well above average.

Smudge, Thanks for the info about the red logo globe and pump cap. I didn’t realize that it was a unique year.

Gar, mine is a 12 59 so it may have just slipped in there for the cap clips with the 1960 builds.

There’s the pump clip. I took irbid and there are no threads for screws.CA6440FE-165F-45A9-AB52-E56E409A99D0.jpeg D562C74D-6B1A-41F5-801C-26E6FB88FF0D.jpeg

Donnie, Coleman did not change things on a schedule, more like around that time sorta. Your globe is original. On the subject of pump cap screws... I got a 1955 200A parts lantern recently, missing the screws. From the hardware store I got #2 which were a bit small and #4 which were a bit large. Have not found a #3 and the others are round heads. The originals have a flattened head. Anyone know of the proper screw?

The clips are a pain, 'cause they go flyin' across the room, never to be seen again and the screws loose themselves into a black hole somewhere.
The 220/228Bs and Cs are the best with threaded pump caps.

Those sheet metal pump tubes weren’t actually threaded themselves, but took a self-tapping sheet metal screw. It would have been a #2 x 3/16” slotted, pan-head, B point, self-tapping sheet metal screw.

I’ve sourced them from Walthers model train accessories and similar ones from Fastenal. The ones from Fastenal were stainless steel and better matched the OEM screws in finish. However, they were 1/4” A point so I trimmed them.

Which witch is which?

It’s kinda easy to strip out a pump tube if the little screw gets over tightened, so I can see how a #2 might not fit correctly any longer.
