I have a 2 mantle lamp made by Coleman in Canada with a stamp of 1 46 below the logo. Pump is not built in so required a separate pump.

There are no other model numbers or stamps on the bottom or anywhere on the tank.

Its in very good condition so it's not that the model number isn't visible, there just isn't one.

Was that typical for lamps of this era?

i remember it in use as a small kid, particularly hanging over the kitchen table. It has a long rod on top with a loop, I have no globe or shade for it and I don't remember there being any when it was in daily use but that was nearly 70 years ago.

A lot of Canadian lamp models are stenciled on the bottom of the fount. May have worn off over there years. You need to fire that heirloom up!

I've seen the stamps, the bottom of this one is unmarked, not a scratch or sign of wear on it!

What colour is it?

Is there a fluted design at the topnof the tank where it meets the painted wooden handle?

File size is too big when I try to post a picture, I don't know how to reduce the size on my IPad.

its green, typical Coleman green that I know and no fluting below the handle.

I think it might be a model 158.

Does it look like the lamps shown at this link?

Does it have a preheat cup around the generator?  If yes, 168K. This is why photos are essential. IMG_2062__1468704798_56149.jpg

Those are awesome lamps. They're pretty common in Canada. I've got one in three different colour schemes: green, beige, and silver/black.

Do you have a pump?

I had a pump, I'll have to check some other storage boxes, hopefully it's still around.

Was it common to use them with no globe or shade?

i don't remember either ever being on this one but regular use would have ended about 65 years ago.

This is how yours was probably stenciled.  I really like the short little 168K. 😎

I'm sure lots of people have used with no shade or globe. Most of the ones I've found have been missing the shade holders. I've found cheap thrift store shades to use but bought the proper shade holders and globe.

I have a couple of lamps with the original globe holder and #355 globe. That particular globe is hard to find and can be expensive.

However there are reproduction options available:

Vent rod which you'll probably need: https://www.oldcolemanparts.com/product.php?productid=3544&cat=&page=1

Repro globe holder like the original: https://www.oldcolemanparts.com/product.php?productid=4786

Correct original globe: https://www.oldcolemanparts.com/product.php?productid=3326&cat=&page=1

OCP has had cheaper reproduction versions of the globe in the past but appears to be out of stock.

There's also a cheaper version of the globe holder which allows to use a 220 lantern sized globe which can be found at Canadian Tire. I've got a couple of these and they work great. If you don't want to spend a lot of money this is a great option.

If you run kero in it I'd advise at least getting the 220 globe holder,  I've had bad luck running kero lamps without globes. A bit of a breeze cools down the generator just a little and bad things start to occur, kero likes HEAT

I was thinking about a parchment shade with a mica chimney attached to the shade for my 168K.  It's so handy now I think the durability and light weight of the mica will keep it a handy user lamp.  I'm using a light steel shade now with no globe, and haven't had any issues.
