Some of you know im crazy about the model R lamp . when i saw this postcard i threw all i could to get it . im also a stamp collector , i wish the year was readable in the cancellation mark but i still think a year can be narrowed down some ...... 3 of our dogs got loose accidentally , spent the best part of an hour tracking em all down :-) get home and see i won this post card ..........im just thrilled to get it . $ 23.50 something like that . ya id a liked that shade yesterday but i think i like this even more ???????????? any literature with the model R has been hard to find , i find this to be a REAL prize ????  Mabels  letter on the back is kinda fun to read too .

this is a pretty early piece of coleman history . im just thrilled here . fingers crossed it makes it thru the USPS system LOL

glad the pups are all back home too , that was very scary !!!!!!!

lets hope the eBay seller doesn't slap a new stamp over the old one and put an address label on the postcard and send it to you as a postcard, they will save 20 cents on postage that way.

That is a GREAT post card.  I have started gathering cards from some Oregon logging towns that are family history - fascinating hobby.

Glad you got your friends back home safe!
THAT is one cool card.  Now I get to imagine the size of the overbid... tempered with the knowledge of the property tax bill...
Valley Center, KANS.  Oct, 8, 3pm.  There is no year date in that cancellation, and the stamp doesn't help*:  The oval cancellation was also a "forever" thing.  Postcards were a penny through early 1917, returned to that price postwar - unlikely a HCCo card would have been mailed so late in its life.  (Unless Mabel or Lil (or Papa!)  picked up a box of 3000 "for cheap" at the Coleman yard sale in April two years back)
Valley Center is 10 N of Wichita.and appears to still be outer suburbia.  Current pop 7343 per Wikipedia, in 1920 pop was 486 - definitely rural at the time.

* My ex-wife never forgave me for my philately.  For all I know, it was the primary cause of our divorce.

Some people come home from a GPA gathering with less stuff than they left home with.  Apparently I am not one of those people...

Looks like someone treated grampas mint plateblock collection as postage. Terrible! Valuable stamps devalued. Excellent postcard btw.

The coolest card that I have is a birthday card addressed to W. C. On his 85th birthday in 1955. It was sent to him by a dealer of many decades. I'm loving those postcards.
