I recently sold a few stoves and lanterns to buy me a motorbike (2004 BMW F650GS) and safety gear.
I knew it would need some work done when I bought it, so I haggled a bit.
Once I had driven the bike home, I started to work on it and found the previous owner hadn't taken good care of it.
Only two cells of the battery had water in it, so I filled it up to revive it until I replaced it with a LiFePo battery.
Next unpleasant surprise was that the airfilter was soaked with oil. I removed it and found a big puddle of oil in the airbox.  Probably came in through the crankcase ventilation. Cleaned the airbox and replaced the filter.
Next thing I drained the old oil. Got 3.5 liters out of an engine that only needs 2.3.
That explained the oil in the airbox.
After the oil and filter change I replaced the old brake fluid.
Today I replaced the spark plugs.
Next thing on the to-do list is to repair the waterpump that's leaking.

Besides the service and repair work, I have put some accessories on the bike.
I've installed aspherical mirrors, pannier carrier and panniers, crash bars and a taller seat.

I've driven the bike about 2500 miles since I bought it. Makes a lot of fun exploring new roads.

I'll try to add some photos later.

I once had a F650GS too. It's a great bike. I remember how smooth that bike would cruise over rough railroad crossings like they were nothing. Hope you post some photos.
